Well, the main reason that people are atheists is the lack of evidence for the existence of any gods.

But I agree with you - the fact that the most vocal of the Christians are so immoral and personally repulsive certainly motivates people who might otherwise just accept how they were brought up to instead start asking questions.

If there really were a heaven and it were a perfect place, it would be impossible for both me and Pat Robertson to wind up there. At least one of us is wrong about this whole thing. If it's me - if Pat Robertson's religion is true - then heaven is not heavenly, because he's a pathetic lying little anti-American asshole, which would mean there are pathetic lying little anti-American assholes in heaven.

They certainly don't help. Jerry Falwell, for all of his bloviating and pontificating, was one of the worst advocates Christianity ever had. Pat Robertson is a circus clown. I am a Christian, but I wish these types of Christians would help out and shut up. I have to throw Oral Roberts are this scrap heap as well.

There still would be Atheists regardless of Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell.
There are many reason why someone is an Atheist.

There were atheists before they were born and there will be atheists after they are gone. Unbelief is not dependent on a man of the time. Some high profile men who stand up for truth will be targets. They know that. If Jesus went through his suffering, they can endure theirs.

Billy: Christianity is a "calling" by God - not a random choice (John 6, verse 44) I agree with you about the spreading of the "burning in hell" trash. "Fundies" have some very bad theology and need to clean that up first, prior to cleaning up North America. "Fundies" have managed to create a "us and them" approach to God's UN conditional love - extended to ALL humans ever, born !!!

GOD gives Each of Us a Chance to Say "Yes" to Jesus.

After you say Yes and are Saved (Spirit Recreated) You FOLLOW Jesus, not a man or woman.

GOD uses men and women to Help Teach and Prepare us for the Future.
Men and Women can Let you Down (fall into Sin, mess up so on).

Keep your Eyes on Jesus (pray, read Bible so on).
HE will Never Leave you nor ForSake you and HE will Never Let you Down.

Jesus is The Only True Friend

Atheist thought is not based on the preaching of two men.
They choose to be Atheist because of their bad experiences with churches and believers, or their studies have led them to their present views. Period.

Other way around. The preachers made Christians into atheists. Thanks to Y!A R&S, many lay Christians are expanding the tradition of alienating people.

Probably.
But honestly, it is stupid to base your opinion of 2,000,000,000 people and 2000 years of history on the rants of two guys on American television.

No. It really is a logical choice, not an emotional one. But we would have a lot less material if it weren't for them.
