People are "called" by God to be ministers. I am sure God is calling many who have chosen not to listen. Not only are few people going into the ministry, but many are dropping out. The job description turns many away. Wanted, a Man with a family , who has a college education, and has spent 4 years in a well known seminary, who is willing to work for very little pay, for long hours, seven days a week, who will be on call 24 hours and is expected to be present with all those who are sick, dieing, or just need to be counseled. Counseling problems could include any problem known to mankind, from rape, to murder, to incest, etc. Also, He will be expected to conduct services at the Church on a regular basis, and to direct the occupations of an underpaid staff. Two weeks vacation will be allowed, provided he has found someone to fill in while he is gone.
What should be done about this. Wow, that is the question isn't it. I suppose that when a new man is being interviewed for the position of pastor, as church members, we should rally around him and make him aware of our support, whenever and where ever needed. We need to make the job of Minister more attractive and less demanding. We really need to pray a lot too.

Because it's hard to practice what you preach.
It's hard to be a Christian in the first place but as a member of the Clergy you are a leader and should bet setting an example for you parishioners and the community.
Also for Catholics priests can't be married so the numbers are declining.
