One shot is about 1.5 ounces. 80 proof is 40% alcohol. So you get about .6 (two-thirds) ounces of actual alcohol.

A standard shot is "supposed to be" 2 oz. A standard bar shot is 1 1/2 or 1 1/4, depending on how bad your bar is screwing you out of money. The drunker you get, the less in your shot each time you order.

1 1/4 -1 1/2 is standard. It is posted in most bars by law. "All drinks contain X unless specillay ordered" etc.
