Yes you are right Jesus and god are not the same person and this is not because it is related to the trinity.
John 3:16 which says "God loved the world so much he GAVE his only begotten SON"
John 17:3 which helps us to see "This means everlasting life there taking in knowledge of you the only true god and the one whom you SENT forth,Jesus Christ"
John 14:28 also says " ......You would rejoice that i am going my way to the father, because the father is GREATER than i am."
1 Corinthians 11:3 "I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn the head of a women is th man; in turn the head of the Christ is GOD"
So you see this supports your thoughts that god and Jesus are not the same person and does not include a 3rd person but 2 separate people.

They are saying that God knows the day not the son. It is all part of the trinity which is 3in 1 . it is like water it can be solid ,liquid or a gas or steam. it is still water but but has different uses. See God can be like ice solid hard like a protector and the holy spirit can be like gas and water can be like God he shed his blood for us. We can not understand it, we are only finite it is not understandable for us humans here are some verses that show the Trinity:
Isaiah44:6-8 It is saying how there is only one God not any others.
Acts 5:3-4 It was talking about how Ananias lied to the Holy Spirit, and it said He lied to God. They called God the Holy Spirit as well.
Matthew 3:16-17 They are calling the Lord God, the Holy Spirit and the Son. This describes God as 3 in 1.
John16:13 They called said He and the Holy Spirit.
John 14:16 It called God the Father as well.
John1:1 It called the Lord God.
In all these verse they called the Lord God, Holy Spirit, and the Son and the Father. No matter what they called God he was the same in all 3 in 1.
this is what i culd understand that these verse ment u can look them up at BibleGateway.com (iam only13 years old)

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
King James
Jesus was the Word of God. See John 1
(Jesus is the first and only to come from God. After Jesus was put forward/made all came into being by God through Jesus.)
God spoke and Jesus did. See Genesis 1 (God's Spirit hovers over and forms)
Jesus is the very essence of God Almighty. Jesus is the first born of God (Genesis 1/John 1) and the last born of God - in the flesh - through woman. "First and Last" but not God YHWH. From God, of God, and part of God. Not a big stretch. Being a part of God as is the Holy Spirit and the essence of God is not a hard thing to see.
In the flesh - the Son - first born of God/essence of God - does not know the time.

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. King James Version.
Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father are two seperate members of the Godhead, the third being the Holy Ghost. Some churches believe that they are one person. That is not true. In the Bible you find verses that say that I and the Father are one, but that is meaning one in purpose.
Genesis 1:26-27; 3:22
Matthew 3:17; 28:19
Luke 3:22
Acts 7:55
1 John 5:7
If you skim down to verse 44 is says:
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
That is talking about the second coming of the Savior..The first being when he came to the Jews and was crucified.

In the Bible it only appears as consonants YHWH (otherwise known as the Tetragrammaton, link!). It is thought that some sects thought the name of God was too holy to even be written out. But here's the rub - nobody anymore remembers what the vowels are supposed to be. This means that the 'Yahweh' construction is purely hypothetical. I've seen others (like 'Jehovah') that connect it to other traditions. So either the former reason (it wasn't spelled out for a reason) or the latter (nobody really knows how to spell it out) is probably why it still gets excluded.

In order to explain Matthew 24:36, I have to show you Philippians 2. I am using the New International Version.
Philippians 2
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But MADE himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
What the English translations tend to lose is a certain word that bars you from really getting what is being said here:
We take the word, "Made"
This is what it really means:
Strong's Number: 2758
kenovwfrom (2756)
Kenoo
Pronounced ken-o'-o
Definition
1. to empty, make empty
1. of Christ, he laid aside equality with or the form of God
2. to make void
1. deprive of force, render vain, useless, of no effect
3. to make void
1. cause a thing to be seen to be empty, hollow, false
King James Word Usage - Total: 5
make void 2, make of none effect 1, make of no reputation 1, be in vain 1
So he 'emptied' himself. That's why Jesus didn't know certain things! He gave it up so that He would rely on faith, just as you or I would. We get a picture of that here:
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
(Romans 3)
"By the faith OF Jesus", he faithed in God too! And that's why there are many references to Jesus as being a man, in some ways just like any other man, because a part of his nature is taken as the 'kinsman' so that he would fulfill the role of the 'kinsman redeemer'.
Understand this, and you won't have to wonder any longer!

Matthew 24:36 has been taken several ways. One way is that it proves Jesus is not the God everyone is making him out to be. But there are so many verses which contradict that theory, Namely Psalm 45:5,6 ; Hebrews 1:8,9 ; John 1:1 - 3 ;
John 8: 24, 58 ; etc.
Another way Matthew 24:36 is taken is by riddle. One of the things that the Jews refer to Rosh Hashanah is by calling it, " The day that no man knows." So instead of admitting ignorance about something, he was actually setting up a riddle for the ages, making it seem like he did not know, and yet knowing.

BINGO!! You're getting warm, dear!!
Exactly! Three persons (L. Persona, Gr. hypostases) - one in essence (L. Substantia Gr. Ousia)
Philipians 2:5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Who should we bow the knee to? God alone.
Jesus is God.
Alpha and Omega (Gr. "το 'Αλφα και το Ω") is an appellation of God in the book of Revelation (verses 1:8, 21:6, and 22:13). Its meaning is found in the fact that Alpha(Α) and Omega(Ω) are respectively the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. This would be similar to referring to someone in English as "the A to Z". Thus, twice when the title appears it is further clarified with the additional title "the Beginning and the End" (21:6, 22:13).
Revelation 1: 11 in the King James Version says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last.” This verse clearly proves an undisputed reference to Jesus as the “Alpha and Omega”.
Again...clear.

"If you knew me, then also my father would you have known. For now you know and have seen him." Phillip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, that is enough for us."
Jesus said to him, "Such a long time I have been with you and you have not known me, Phillip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father; how then can you say, 'Show me the Father?' Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?"
John 14:7-10 - the translation is my own, directly from the original Greek text.
The Jews said to him, "You have not yet fifty years, yet you have seen Abraham?" Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly I tell you, before Abraham came, I AM!"
John 8:57-58, again I translated it myself directly from the Greek. (The Nestle Greek Text.)
