It depends. Alcohol can be an aquired taste. If you haven't had much of it before, you might want to start with a fruity cocktail or sweet wine that's relatively low in alcohol content.
If you've got legal friends and you're ready to explore a little, you could host a beer-tasting party. Get three or four brands you'd really like to try, plus some cheap stuff for later on after you've ruined your palate. Then have each of your friends bring over something different. A small serving of beer doesn't have too much alcohol so you can sample a lot more.

If you're not sure what you like, I would try a rum or vodka based mixed drink. Any bartender will have recommendations for you. I like sweet or fruity drinks (for the most part.) Some of my favorite drinks are:
Tom Collins (gin, sour mix, lime, sugar, club soda)
Malibu Breeze (Malibu rum, pineapple, cranberry)
Alabama Slammer (everything, i don't even know what all is in there.)
Long Island Iced Tea (see Alabama slammer)
White Russian (Kahlua, vodka, milk or cream)
Fuzzy navel (peach schnapps, vodka, orange juice)
I like shots like Buttery Nipples (buttershots with bailey's,) Kamikazes, and Red Devils. Alabama Slammer is good as a shot too.
You also might think you don't like a drink when really you don't like the brand of alcohol they use. In a drink like an Alabama Slammer, I don't care what brand is in it; there's so much there! But in something like a Tom Collins, it has to be Tanqueray, Boodles or some other top shelf stuff. Same thing for vodka, it has to be Absolut or top shelf.

try this: Old Fashioned
Muddle half a lump of sugar with 2 dashes of bitters and enouph water to cover in an Old Fashioned Cocktail glass.
Add a cube of ice and 2 ounces of Old Mr. Boston Rye, or Burbon Wiskey and stir well.
Twist a lemon rind for the drop of oil, add a slice of lemon and a cherry. Cut a slice of Oreange over the rim and serve with a stirring rod.
Or this is a favorite at the Kentucy Derby: Mint Julep
Fill a 12 ounce glass with finley shaved ice, pour in 2.5 ounces Old Mr. Boston Burbon Whiskey and stir until glass is heavily frosted.
Then add 1 teaspoon powdered sugar, fill with water and stir, put a few sprigs of fresh mint and serve with short straws so that the mint will be inhaled when drinking.

I really like buhnsfarm (sp?). If you want something cheap from a bar go with miller light from the tap. Beer is always nasty, but this was the least crappiest tasting in my book! Oh, and try a Yager bomb! Its yagermeister mixed with redbull. Sooo good. Or goldschlagger. That stuff will mess you up.
