No - not necessary or desirable!
My dog was spayed at 4 months. She's 12 years now and has never had a single health problem. The vet says she's in great shape for a large dog her age.

This is an old and untrue tale. It is actually healthier to have your pet spayed or neutered at a young age to eliminate the possibilites of specific health problems.

No. If your dog has proper amount of exercise, and not overweight, your dog can be healthy. Also, spay/neuter is one of the factor.

Absolutely not. You actually want to have your female dog spayed prior to her first heat cycle. Usually you have her spayed prior to her being 6 months old. Once she has her first heat cycle she has a 25% chance of developing breast cancer later in her lifetime.

Absolutely NOT! In fact, a spayed female will not get uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, or a deadly disease called pyometra. She will also have a greatly reduced chance of mammary cancer if spayed before 1st heat.
