Here are a few fundamental differences...
1) LDS Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the literal Son of God. We also believe that we are literally children of our Father in Heaven. As we are all spirit children of God, we also believe that Jesus is our brother, and that we are all brothers and sisters.
2) LDS Christians believe in the same organization that existed in the early church, including a foundation of prophets and apostles. We believe that this organization was lost through persecution and apostasy, and later restored through a modern prophet.
3) LDS Christians do not limit themselves to a single book of scripture. We believe in the Bible, The Book of Mormon, and other scriptures. We believe that God continues to speak to man through prophets.

Oh wow, where do I begin?
The big difference LDS have that other Chrisitans don't, is in the belief of continuous revelation. The time of the prophets did not end with the Old Testiment. We believe that God still walks and talks with men today as he did in the old times. There is no way that a being of infinite wisdom and knowledge could have compiled all he knows within a thousand pages. There is so much more to be learned.
And if you really stop and look around you. With all the war. All the media influences towards sex, drugs, and violence. Can you name any other time in history where a prophet was more needed?

the variations between an LDS and a Christian have become smaller and smaller as time is going by utilising. it particularly is because of the great LDS PR marketing campaign attempting to make themselves look greater like the renowned christian, with the intention to snatch in greater converts. massive quantities of LDS teachings and historic sermons have been edited and forgotten, with the intention to erase multiple the wacky and much less achievable ideals held by utilising the early LDS leaders. The mormon leaders found out that christianity actual has been working for persons, so quite of distancing itself from the apostatized christian outlook, (which it very plenty did so interior the beginning up), it particularly is now becoming a member of in unison to the place an interloper can walk into an LDS church and say, there are little or no variations! case in point, the element of the theory that mormons will boost into easily gods has been for sure toned down. Joseph Smith taught that God the father, grew to become into no longer an eternal God. He grew to become into as quickly as as you and that i've got been, and grew to become a God. And hence, such is a similar which you and that i will boost into gods, interior the direction of a similar style of exaltation technique because of the fact the father went by using. Many mormons have self belief this easily, however the CHURCH has for sure spent a good number of time revising the instructions of exaltation. plenty so, that many mormons have no concept that Joseph Smith preached this valiantly! i will digital mail you if mandatory, i'm specific some ex-mormons might desire to chime in in the event that they have not already.

Well...the LDS church believes there is a living prophet on the earth today. We believe in the Book of Mormon, Doctrines and Covenants, The Pearl of a Great Price and of course the Bible. Mormons believe in Joseph Smith, that he was a true prophet and did restore the church to it's former glory....
Uhhh....there are many other things. The LDS church has 13 articles of faith, google it and read them.

Non morman christians base their faith on the Gospels of Jesus christ and the bible only. Mormans base theirs on the book of morman joseph smiths account and the bible. uhm... Mormans believe that they are the only true faith and the only church with the power to babtize. While the catholic church and most but not all other denominations will accept the babtism of another denomination. These are just a couple of what I can think of.

Mormons believe in a Jesus that is different than the Jesus of the bible. They believe, for instance, that Jesus is the "spirit brother" of Lucifer. They also believe in modern day prophets (their president), that the Book of Mormon is from God. They teach in their doctrine that if you do this, that and the other thing just right, when you die you will have eternal marriage and populate other planets. In other words, they believe lots of stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with biblical teachings....but they take it as gospel.

Christianity is defined as believing in the basic tenets of the Christian faith, The Divinity of Christ being foremost, the insolubility of the Trinity being equally important. That salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone.
All three of these tenets disqualify LDS as a Christian religion.
