In Singapore all Primary School (Age 7-12) Secondary (13-16) and Jounior Colleges (17-19) have to wear uniforms.
Wearing it doesn't mean you look nerdy or ugly, everyone is wearing it the same as you.
However you can actually customise your uniform example (Anklesocks, tapered pants, folded in shirts etc etc)

Yeah, I had to wear the cute little school girl uniforms-- but I personalized mine... I even wore knee high boots with mine once-- had to change into my gym shoes.

School uniforms are great! That way kids don't have to worry about their clothing style and force their parents to buy designer clothes.

not anymore, but i used to have to wear these ugly navy blue slacks with a bright red polo with my schools name on it and a white polo on mass days with this big, ugly, thick, itchy red vest and then on pe days we had these ugly bright turquoise uniforms! haha my old school administrater was on drugs or something when he picked out the uniforms. and it was a rule that we weren't aloud to wear any necklace unless in the form of a cross, or bracelets unless religious related and girls had to have their hair either down with a plaid school headband or in a pony tail with no nothing else in our hair.
they were the ugliest things youcan ever imagine!!!
=/
glad those days are over.

I went to Catholic school for 13 years, kindergarten through high school. Now that I'm in college, I actually kind of miss not having to worry about what to wear.
