It is that they treat women as second-class citizens, through their religious dogma or by sheer intimidation, thus denying them the same rights and same access to higher education, or as ministers, priests or rabbis or as political decision makers within the system, etc. And this discrimination they claim is sanctioned by their interpretations of their scriptures.

The question is why?

I mean, I’ve read my King James over and over and found no such justifications or excuses for treating women this way. What are these people seeing (or should I say inventing) that I can not see?

That's not completely true, Gretchen. Pagens hold women to high esteem. Likewise did many of the Polynesian cultures and belief systems. And Presbyterians and Unitarians have not only had female ministers but openly imply and respect equality.

14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

So you are implying that 'all' women are being deceived and in transgression because one was? Isn't that like saying 'all men are idiots' because you know one that is? Sorry, this passage doesn't apply to all women that followed Eve.

Nor does 'suffer not'.

Your translations came about after Rome altered the wording of the scriptures.

Makeme, you seem to know nothing about fundamentalist dogma. There is nothing liberal about not allowing a woman to have a voice in the church, or to drive a car or vote or own property.

You might want to do a little research.

May I remind everyone that all these scriptures were written by man, not God. He didn't make the rules on how someone should treat a women. Women might not have been allowed to teach back then because they weren't allowed in school. Let's see, whose fault is that. Man. Not to sound feminist, but they were the ones holding the women down. Someone's true faith should have a lot more tolerance/acceptance then that.

Christianity grew to become into Jewish from the beginning up. all the 1st Christians have been Jews. they have self belief interior the Holy Spirit. (Jews) in addition they have self belief interior the Messiah. some merely think of he hasn't regarded yet. David, in considered one of his Psalms, begged God to no longer take the Holy Spirit from him. Allah is a "come at the instant" Islam did no longer even exist till the thirteenth century. Neither did Allah. devil includes kill, thieve and wreck. What has Islam been doing now? Ask the kin of those killed at 9/11 and all killed by utilising terrorists before and because then. feels like the define for devil suits Allah tremendously plenty.

It's that the more fundamentalist they are, the more they become controlling cults. Look at the FLDS, the fundamentalist polygamist Mormons. If that isn't a cult, I don't know what is. While it's true that they're usually male-dominated, a lot of those oppressed are also male. In Islam, there can't possibly be enough women to go around if plural marriage is encouraged. The surplus men have to be oppressed, or encouraged to "martyr" themselves. In FLDS, surplus boys are sometimes abused, but regularly driven out. How else can you have multiple teen wives for middle aged and older men?

One thing these "Christians," Jews, and Moslems have in common is an obsessional neurosis man calls "religion." Most of these "religious" Christians worship Mary, the Apostles, and images they have made with their own hands, instead of Jesus Christ. They all worship an "unknown" God. They all oppose the Truth of God's Word. They are religious, but not realists. Jesus Himself hated the religion of the Pharisees and the Saducees. The entire Sanhedren was a corrupt organization. They also treat not just woman and minorities badly, but also anyone who doesn't belong to their religions.

It's all EGO dear.

When people read something and get stupid ideas in their head that they are now somehow "new, improved, reborn, superior" then they start treating other human beings like ****.

It gets worse, they start wars and start killing in the name of their professed faith and in the name of who they pray to.

Now if you ever go to a garden and pick off a petal off a flower and wonder at it, then look at it under a microscope and see the engineering that went into making something so common as a petal.....then wonder at the immense engineering that went into making a self-sustaining eco-system like planet Earth, all solar powered.....then wonder at the Creator of such a system.....

Ask yourself why on Earth would the Creator want the citizens of this creation to go around stomping and killing each other.

If you can't answer that, you haven't thought about it enough yet.

I don't believe that, i'm agnostic but I am really intrigued about paganism where women are worshiped because they are the birth givers. I am not by far a christian, muslim, or jewish because it's completely sexist and out of date religion. Besides why does there have to be a set of rules and a definition proving god's ways.

Sooo..if youve read the Bible over and over and found no such instance where that is tolerated MUCH LESS condoned then wouldnt it be fair to say that the "christians" who practice such things ARENT Christians AT ALL but SELF label themselves that for whatever reason?

You missed it. Try Timothy, where it says a woman should not be allowed to teach, for starters. There's plenty of second-class treatment in the bible, both OT & NT.

You are really way out there all wet on this one, learn your history.

Jews and Christians were extremely liberal in their treatment of women throughout the ages. And much of the progress that women have made throughout the centuries are due to both groups.

The Bible reflects the social mores of the times in which it was written--back then women were treating as property.
