I am a registered nurse and tylenol induced liver toxicity is evident within 24 hours. If they were able to get most of it out it is possible that he will be fine. Will just need to be monitored for a little while.
The most important thing here is to get him some counseling to find out why he did this so that it doesn't happen again. Usually if a person attempts once, it will happen again without proper intervention.

Yes I'm sure your nephew will be OK, the hospital will give him an antidote for the Tylenol and the blood machine will get the rest of the Tylenol, Any damage the Tylenol caused his live will heal, the liver is an amazing organ. i hope you guys find out why he took so much Tylenol so he doesn't do this again.

Over dosage of Tylenol can be very serious. It is common that it can cause liver damage. Do not read articles on the web or ask questions like this one on the web. The web contains too many articles do not account for his overall well-being, how long the meds were in his system, how much he ingested, etc. etc. etc. Others are full of bad advice and information. All would be speculation and only add to worry. Only a medical professional can tell you how serious the situation is at hand. Take care!

I would imagine he should be alright, and by alright I mean alive. 30 tylenol is generally a lethal dose in most, but, in a 9 year old I would expect it to be less, ie, he took a lethal dose. He's at the hospital now, and they're working on him, so he should live, although, its probably too early to say what the long term effects will be, as a tylenol overdose can cause severe, irreversible liver damage.

As long as he is in the hospital, they should be able to treat him. I am guessing they probably are giving him mucamyst (?sp) as well - it's common after Tylenol OD's.
Having said that, Tylenol wreaks havoc on your liver. So dangerous!
I hope that once he stabilizes medically, he is admitted to psychiatry. That is a serious overdose for any age, but 9 is just frightening. He clearly needs psych stabilization and further treatment.
Good luck to you and your family.

The hospital will need to check his liver. Overdoses of acetaminophen can cause liver problems. He is sleepy because of the diphenihydramine (Benadryl) in the PM part of the medication.

I am so sorry! TRY to keep positive!!!!
--But he may need to partial liver transplant from a living donor if he is on a liver machine. Livers don't really "get better." But on the plus side, all of his family could be tested and you guys could donate a partial portion of your liver, a living donor. That's the good thing about the human liver. It depends on when he took them to when he was found. I am praying for him! Good Luck!

Tell ur brother or sister to call poison control center or take him to emergency room. if it were only tylenol it would still be dangerous, but the fact that they are pm medicines will make him way too sleepy if you know what i'm saying. call em and tell them to take the kid to the hospital quick

Tylenol can cause liver failure. Hopefully with him being 9 years old he will be able to get over it. I'm sorry.
