What 14y+14<150 is saying is that 14y+14 is less than or equal to 150. So, you then have to solve for y to answer.
14y<150-14
14y<136
14y/14>136/14(because you are dividing, the sign switches)
y>9.714 (This means that y is greater than or equal to 9.714)
You then put 9.714 in the equation in place of the y.
14(9.714)<150
136<150 (the statement is true, so you know you did the problem correctly)
So, the answer is D, because the bakery makes between 136 and 150 muffins a day, which is more that 34 muffins.
Hope this helps!

solve for y and get 9.71
y=the number of muffins per day so, the bakery makes less than 34 muffins a day. Giving you A as your answer...i think

Basically solve for Y.

14Y + 14 < 150
14Y < 136
Y < 9.7

So, they make less than 34 muffins.

all you need to know is that the underlined < means "less than or equal to", so the bakery "at most" can make 34. It can make less, or exactly 34, but no more. there's really no math needed on this one.

Treat this like an equation
14y = or < 136
y = or < 9
So the answer is a.
The answer is strange because 34 is so far different from 9. So I think you may have written the problem down differently from the original.

Simply pretend that the < symbol is an equal sign and then just solve the problem like normal and then once done put it back facing the same way as when you started.

Im pretty sure you only reverse the sign if you divide or multiply both sides by a negative number
