Again, with no disrespect or trying to impose faiths on you,I ask these questions:

What is the occult?
Do you practice 'spells' or 'charms'? If you do, how exactly do they work? Is it a physical sense or a soulful feeling? Does anything get created out of it?
Are there different forms of occult or divination?
Any other information on occult or divination and your personal views on it would be helpful.

No ridiculous answers please!

It is not my goal to become Pagan as I am very happy in my faith at the moment. It is just my philosophy that you can never know too much.

I think what you are referring to as the occult are those practices most commonly associated with Hermetic Magic. The source of most Hermetic magic is derived from certain esoteric documents (see Link below for standard classics on this subject)

What is the occult?
'Occult' means hidden knowledge

Do you practice 'spells' or 'charms'?
Not all who study the occult uses spells. I do not practice spells, but I have cast a few when I felt it was important.

If you do, how exactly do they work?
They work by way of the power of the Universe and quantum physics
Is it a physical sense or a soulful feeling?
Not all spells effect the body, depends upon what the desired outcome is and if the spell was done with the proper energies.

Does anything get created out of it?
Again, it depends.

I would have to say the occult is something that has degenerated into fantastic notions associated with symbolism of the past. That isn't to say that symbolism has no meaning, but there is such thing as something being misinterpreted or distorted beyond recognition. Occultism should in no way be separated from meditation, but then again meditation is also something that has been distorted beyond recognition. People who take things like spells and charms literally are people who don't understand allegorical and metaphorical language. There is such thing as magic in life, but to acquire real magic one has to have the proper self knowledge and has to make unsurmountable efforts in order to overcome many weaknesses within themselves. Physical sensations come from meditation, (although using the word meditation probably brings forth images of Buddha or a Hindu monk in the lotus position, and this is only a small fragment of what meditation truly is) and stronger emotions and higher states of consciousness bring forth many feelings that are unlike what the average person experiences. What should be created out of occultism are the subtle bodies, the astral, the mental and causal, although different teachings express these and name these differently. You should create a new self, real occultism would be to do with self transformation, and transmutation of certain chemicals within the body from conscious efforts. Divination is mostly nonsense, although clairvoyance is something that can be acquired from various exercises done over an extensive period of time. Perhaps if a person or culture is very advanced they could perhaps tell the future, like the ancient Mayans or perhaps the teaching of the I Ching. Personally if you are looking for the truth I would say searching through New Age or Occultism will lead you nowhere, it will be the same circle of people playing on peoples weaknesses towards wanting to become a more powerful being, and using compelling theories of the past in a mutilated form to try to sell books, or make themselves feel more significant than they truly are.

Hopefully that clears up the confusion in regard to this subject a little.

The word "occult" means something that is hidden.
Didn't you ever hear the term occult blood when they were talking about colon cancer?
And to answer your other questions. Yes, I make charms, potions, do spells. I also read tarot cards, do dream interpretations.
I've never been able to find water, but my Mom and sister are good at that. My oldest brother can tap into the nether world when it suits him.
Most of my kids are gifted with bits & pieces of the paranormal. My late husband could speak to animals & understand them.
I never thought about a physical sensation or soulful sensation, it's just something I was born to do.
Yes, I'm one of those people that probably your Sunday School teacher warned you about.
I don't worry about things like that, I know that when I do my healing spells & someone feels better, then I know it worked.
I know that my spells & potions won't cure cancer, but then you never know. The cure for cancer could be something really simple.
Look at good old pennicillin: bread mold, "ain't that a kicker."
Who knows maybe one day they will find out that "sodium silica" really does cure some forms of cancer.
My spirit guide says it does.
Anything get created out of it?
Sometimes love happens when you least expect it.
I hoped these answers have helped you.

Occultism is a very broad topic--neopagan religions, ceremonial magic, chaos magic, various forms of divination, and plenty of other practices can generally be lumped under the aegis of "occult" in popular use.

You're asking a lot of questions that don't have quick and easy answers. Best thing for you to do is to start reading to get a variety of perspectives. That's the best thing to get yourself the basics of occultism. Here are a few sites to get you started:

http://www.witchvox.com
http://www.twpt.com
http://www.chaosmatrix.org
http://www.davensjournal.com
http://www.rendingtheveil.com
http://www.irreality.net
http://www.spiralnature.com
http://www.thegreenwolf.com/links.html

As for books, here are my top three favorites for beginners:

"21st Century Wicca" by Jennifer Hunter - the most grounded intro to Wicca I've found
"Contemporary Paganism" by Graham Harvey - a basic overview of some of the more common neopagan religions
"The Four Powers: Magical Practice for Beginners of All Ages" by Nicholas Graham - takes an even broader view of neopaganism, ceremonial magic, shamanism, occultism, and others

You can find other books reviewed at http://lupabitch.wordpress.com

Finally, get out and talk to people--there's nothing that can replace that. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com and http://www.meetup.com and put the name of the nearest city and the word "pagan" in the search engine to find online groups of local pagans. Also, the various pagan and magic-themed communities at http://www.livejournal.com are a good resource as well. Meet folks online, then when you're comfortable check out some of the public events in your area.

Hope that helps!

I think there are many occults out there. Any religion not teaching that Jesus is the Christ is anti-christ. 1 John 4:3, And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
