My skin is realllllly oily... Anything meant to dry up oil makes my nose and the area around it flake... And if I just wash my face, it gets 100-wat lightbulb shiny. One kid on the bus even said "You're all sweaty!" when my face was just oily/shiny/whatever. I use ProActiv and I admit it does help but it isn't taking away that oil or shine or some break outs for that matter.... Do you know any secret remedies to un-oil-ifying skin and taking away that shine with out buying anything over $5.00???? Arg HELP.

My skin used to be oily. I used to coat it with petroleum jelly and steam it over a pot with a towel over my head to hold in the steam, then wipe it all off and put witch hazel on it.

The petroleum jelly dissolved the oil, the steam helped it, and the witch hazel cleaned the entire mess off my face.

After all the above, I put a light moisturizer on.

I did this twice a week, and my skin cleared up just fine. I haven't seen oily skin for years.

I still use witch hazel for toner and a light moisturizer.

I don't know of anything thats $5 or less. But try a new face wash and wash your face every night before bed.

I used to have such bad skin and nothing ever seemed to work, this went on for 4 years. I have really oily skin and had zits over zits and they hurt. UGH! But then I recently found something at CVS. It's by Alba and it's called something like "sea scrub". It's in a pine green bottle. It works wonders! I haven't had a "bad' zit in MONTHS! My face in now rally clear and I have a pretty glow. All I have are tiny little ones that basically only bother my because I'd like to have COMPLETELY flawless skin haha. But really! Try Alba "Sea Scrub" within a month you will have a really clear face.

My two cents is all the anti-oil / anti-acne products you are using are making it worse. Our bodies natural reaction to skin that is being dried out by products, is to produce MORE oil. Once I stopped using face washes, etc. that were made for oily skin, my skin stopped producing so much oil. It's worth a try! Oh, and just buy some clean & clear oil absorbing sheets and / or powder to combat the oil until you get it under control! Hope this helps!

Try egg masks.

Take an average egg, beat it up, smear it on your face for about 30 minutes, and after a couple days, dry, clear skin. It will seem shiny at first, but if you only use it at night, and don't wash your face in the morning, it works out perfectly (at least for me).

An oily skin , as the name implies, is one in which the sebaceous or oil-producing glands are over active. As surface grease tends to attract dirt, an oily skin acquires a dirty surface film , that needs to be removed daily. For more details log to http://useinfo-oilyskin.blogspot.com/

you can buy a bottle of witch hazel at rite aid, duane reade, wallmart, ect.

its like alcohol but alot more gentle so it wont make you flake!

if you cant find it, look for astringents that contain witch hazel.

another thing, i have oily skin and like to carry tissues or sanitizing whipes with me. simply blot the areas that get super oily.
