I run/walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes, take an intermediate yoga class and use the weight machines for 20 minutes a day for 6 days a week.
I eat a balance diet but still can;t seem to be losing weight. When I am not at the gym I am home crying cause I am so fat. what can I do? i need to lose the weight ASAP. My life is on hold till I lose the weight. I refuse to go to any social events or see family cause i feel horrile about myself.

thanks everyone for your answers.
the thing is that my entire life I always been "the skinny girl" and was always able to eat whatever I want and never had to worry. I then joined the military and lost even more weight during basic training, once I got out and got stationed on a ship was when my weight went drastically up. A combination of not exercising enough and my only option for food was unhealthy ones and stress resulted in my weight gain.
Now i am discharged and just trying to get my weight back to how it used to be. once again thanks for your help.

Something important that a lot of people don't think about is that when you first start working out, you might not lose weight. You might even GAIN weight. This is because muscle weighs a lot more than fat.

If you lose fat, but gain muscle, it might seem as though you aren't getting anywhere.

What you should do is measure your body and keep track of THAT. Inches lost is far more important than actual weight.

Also, women can have more trouble losing actual pounds than men. We're great at losing a lot of water weight at the start, but it can sometimes be slow going after that.

Make sure you're eating healthy along with the workouts and keep track of body fat % and inches.

Stick to it and you WILL see results. It takes patience.

You don't seem to be extremely overweight- I am 5'7" and in great shape.. but I weight 135. I don't worry about the scale, just my health.

But anyway, I would suggest 2 things.

First, and most importantly, work on your self-esteem issues. You will lose weight more easily if you have a positive attitude about it and believe you can achieve it. Plus, you'll just be enjoying life more. I really like a lot of the programs on http://www.hayhouseradio.com. I know Crystal Andrus talks specifically about weight loss, though I've never listened to her...

As for the weight loss, I'd suggest a few things. First, have you tried a lower carb diet? I always struggled with weight, and the South Beach Diet really worked for me. Also, I've been using Nikken's Body Balance products lately. I know several people who have lost significant weight using the products. I use them because I like them and feel like they help me stay healthy and fit. I've put a link below. Let me know if you'd like more info on that.

Good luck. I'll keep you in my prayers that you find inspiration to get through this. I was there a few years ago, and have come out the other side better than I had ever imagined.

I've in been in your situation. I use to way 160 pounds, and I was a little over weight for my height, I was 13, so the doctor told me to stay at 160 because I should grow more over the years, but instead when I grew taller, I gained weight and ended up becoming a 220 pound 15 year old.

It was really hard for me. I felt the same way, and cried a lot as well. It's hard being in school theses days when you don't look perfect.

I lost my weight, and the trick was to drink A LOT of water and exercise about 30-45 minutes. Eat the foods you want, but eat them in portions, and the weight should come off fast.

Water is the main key though. Our body needs about 8 glasses everyday, but I would do more if you want it to come off quicker. It flushes out fat, and gets rid of toxins.
Good luck and God bless.

You did not say how long you have been doing this. You will loose inches before you loose weight. You also might gain some weight because of the weight lifting. Give it some more time. Go more by what you look like and not your weight. It is also easier to measure progress if you measure yourself before starting so you can see the results as you go. Measure around your arms, chest, waist, hips, upper thighs, lower thighs, calves, ankles. Don't give up hope

you weight of 147 sounds balance.

but try this

1) Eat more steam food, lean meat, vegies and fruits

2) Cut out the junk food, soda drinks and snacks

3) drink plenty of water / green tea

4)
Exercise - look at combining weights and cardio into your program. you can look at alternating upper and lower body exercises without rest, say bicep curls, then lunges , rest and repeat. With cardio, try sprinting 100m, jog 100m and repeat.

Here's a review link to a fitness program http://www.squidoo.com/burnthefat-feedthemuscle/

5) Have 5-6 healthy meals a day(1 plate portions) to keep your body satisfied

6) if you have cravings drink water or eat fruits
here's an article to a healthy diet

7) have an action plan for long term goals, start off with small goals and increase it gradually over time.

Good luck

I can tell you right now- don't feel that insecure about your weight- it'll bring your self-confidence down which won't make you seem as fun around others. Be confident and learn to like yourself. Besides, stress can make you gain weight, can't it?
It might be your metabolism.
Just keep doing what you're doing... sounds healthy to me!
P.S. chew slowly- scarfing down food adds weight!

One good way to lose weight is to increase your metabolism. Some ways you can do this include:

Eating breakfast (going hours without food slows down your metabolism)
Eating in small portions
Eating healthy food
Drinking plenty of water (dehydration can cause inefficient metabolism)

I was up to 225lbs,
The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. If you want anymore details, feel free to email me. ~Adia

Hold on one second.......I don't think that losing weight is the answer here. I don't think that your're "fat" based on the description of 5'8 and 147 lbs. I bet that lots of people actually find you to be attractive whether you realize it or not. Start living life now and be proud of yourself.
