i've noticed the past few days that my cat's been incredibly lazy. she just kinda lays around my room all day and when im at my computer wants to sit on my lap (not to be patted, just to sit there. body heat maybe?) i have to carry her downstairs just so she'll eat.
i dont really know all that much about cats, but in my opinion she's pretty old. i want to say about 11 or 12 years. so what do you think?

I would take her to the vet and get a checkup. She may need some blood chemistry done as well. Sounds like a major behavior change and it's worth getting checked out.

Sadly, we lost our kitten (almost a year old) yesterday. She also displayed lethargia when I brought her in last Friday, but the vet decided not to do a blood chemistry. She was worse yesterday and was dying as a result of internal blood loss, which showed in the blood chemistry. I doubt that your situation is as drastic, but it does show that sometimes just looking at a animal doesn't tell you a lot.

It could be a lot of things. Cats are hard to self-diagnose, so she could be very sick and you would be unable to tell, but having to carry her downstairs to eat is a sign that something is very wrong. Add her age into it and that says she desperately needs to go to the vet. She could be in pain; it's just hard to tell sometimes. Get her to the vet, tonight if possible.

She's getting up there. Make sure she gets a vet visit really soon. Tell him or her exactly what the changes are.
She's telling you something if she's moping around and has to be warmed up and carried to the food. Lethargy and unusual laziness is a sign that something is going wrong inside her body. Good luck, hope she's OK.

Old is 18-20 now, so she's not that old.

Has she had a vet check recently? There could be a problem that you're not attentive to.

11 or 12 is NOT old for a cat and you haven't given any info that can be translated into what is worng. Please go see a vet

Please don't assume that anyone can answer that question for you. We can only guess. Please take your cat to the vet as soon as possible. Yes, she is old- so it is even more important to have her seen immediately. Our pets can't tell us how they feel- they show us in behavior changes. Your little cat is talking to you.

It sounds like you may have a very sick baby on your hands and you need to get her to a vet where she can be diagnosed and treated. They look to us to help them when their sick or injured.
