... expressed love and turn it into something despicable and dirty?

Its like emotions don't even occur to them and they obssess over the physical expression of it.

For example... demonizing sex outside marriage, demonizing homosexual love because of the way they physically express it, etc.

Seriously, you turn it into the forbidden fruit by making sex into something disgusting to be reviled.

Why? If you accepted it as natural and normal (like most people in the world do), there'd be fewer problems in the world.

And don't give me silly blather about god. God has nothing to do with it. Even he wouldn't want you to hate people, or treat them as less than human (like deny them the ability to marry who they wish for love) because you don't like what they physically do with each other. Think about it this way... your god didn't create your bodies so you could make them out to be something disgusting.

Love is love. How its expressed doesn't matter.

Ahh, but Christians... its not up to you to judge people on what you think your god wants. The bible was written by man. Isn't it rather presumptuous, not to mention horribly arrogant, of you to think you know what your god would want? Isn't it even worse to think you have the right to decide for others, and treat them like dirt, because you don't like it?

If you believe in your god, then let your god judge. It isn't your place to do so.

No brian, if it were not natural, there'd be no gays because no one would be insane enough to engage in it. It wouldn't even occur to someone.

Thumbs ^ Up, yes... kind of on the level of religion. Its yours and yours alone and no one elses bloody business.

Mystine, apparently some people (you included) focus too much on the physical act and forget the emotions involved.

2007-09-18 14:46:09 · update #5

I feel no guilt John. Though you apparently do.

2007-09-18 14:47:08 · update #6

None, not at all. I'm saying that you need to stop ignoring the emotions and focusing on the physical part of it.

Use your brain. Promiscuous sex spreads disease. But I'm not talking about promiscuous sex am I? I'm talking about the love between two people.

Stop trying to twist it into something it isn't.

To put it simply, it is because in sex lies the power of the Divine Feminine, and must not be allowed to exist outside the strict control of male patriarchy in Christianity. If left outside the church's control, it would become clear that women have the power to be as FEMALE as they goddamn well want to be, and that includes having sex by choice, marriage by choice and to rejoice in all things female, including their own bodies as sacred vessels of the power of life giving, Maiden, Mother, and Crone. So much is either wiped out by denial, or is strictly controlled, ie, no sex outside marriage, no right to choose, etc.

That is why the Christian God makes his followers control sexuality as expressed by its members, and tries to impose its ideas of morality on the rest of the population.

They might as well give up on me!!!! I am WOMAN and so are you!!!!

Goddess bless you!

Well hating the people that indulge in premarital sex and/or homosexuality is against christianity.

The Bible says "judge not lest ye be judged", and biblicly no sin is greater than another. So by those people hating, and feeling like they are in a position to pass judgement, they are just as much in the wrong as the one's commiting premarital sex and homosexuality.

In no way does the Bible say that sex is wrong, it only says that it is meant for a man and a woman after they are maried. It is a gift from God for the human race, so whoever gave you the idea that christians think sex is disgusting is wrong.

I have always wondered that too and still don't know why this is happening. I am in my early 50's and was taught as I was growing up that the bedroom affairs are sacred and private. Doesn't seem to be that way anymore tho. Sad, isn't it?

The blathering is in the form of your statement. Your guilt is spilling over into your question. Sex outside of the way God intended it, is sin. God said it long ago. Not us. We only repeat it. There is no obsession from us over sex. But really, you describe it as a religious experience. It is natural and normal only in the way that it is considered safe and sacred. Your stated belief above is twisting it's beauty and purpose. But who are we to stop you?

So you are trying to say it's perfectly normal to sleep around with everyone and anyone? To become a walking STD? "Never mind God, lets all just becomes whores" is your attitude? Is this your idea of moral behavior? As for homosexuals, let them do their thing as long as it's with ONE person, nothing we can do to stop them, otherwise.

You, and many other atheists, fail to realize that you treat sex as a toy that you can just play around with whenever and whomever you please... which is true to yourselves, but in reality, is very degrading and self-destructing.

Love between two people? PLEASE. People don't EVEN KNOW THE MEANING anymore!! Don't even TRY to push that on me, if that were the case then Christians wouldn't have a problem with out of marriage sex, now WOULD THEY? It's become the new fad for people to get the bigger and better deal. Love? It's hardly real anymore. Love is 50years worth of dedication, at least. I'm not saying everything before that isn't, but any 50 year potential relationships as well, and they know it when it is real so what do they do? GET MARRIED.

Someone may THINK they are in "LOVE" and use it as an EXCUSE to sleep with someone or most guys will PRETEND to "LOVE" a girl just to get in her pants or girls will THINK they are in "LOVE" with some guy they met off the streets who seemed like a "really cool dude when i first met him" but it's NOT REAL. I'm not saying everyone is like this, it's just to give you some examples, but you gotta understand, out of sex marriage INCLUDE 12-18 years olds where they do it the MOST. Is THAT LOVE?! They don't EVEN KNOW HOW TO DRIVE YET. People haven't the SLIGHTEST idea what it means to be in love... unless, again, you dedicate yourself to ONE PERSON and USUALLY that INCLUDES MARRIAGE because they don't WANT TO BE WITH ANYONE ELSE, in fact they REFUSE IT and getting married is a joy for them!!

Sex outside of marriage... it's pointless. Why do it? Even if it is to "test drive" before the marriage... if you need sex to see if you truly love someone... then you don't love the person, you love the sex.

I know it, i've seen it, i've been a heart broken victim to it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over......... No one loves the person anymore... they only love the sex.

I am still waiting for my perfect someone, and i refuse to let her ruin our relationship with sex no matter HOW MUCH she WANTS it, and that's all girls ever want from me... She has to love me for who i am....

All i know are my emotions and they are what TEAR ME UP INSIDE because of this thing called.... "love".

He can be the kindest, nicest, most considerate, caring, compassionate, sweet and honest man alive AND THEY STILL DONT LOVE HIM... or even so much as CARE about him... no one does.... no one. Just the IDEA of love fills me with pain and sadness... it's something i've always wanted but never been fortunate enough to have... love just... doesn't exist anymore.

forget what religions say, sex is not bad, sex is good.

Sex is the reason why we live, it is the process of us being born and the reason how and why we are born, without sex nobody would be alive. It is the strongest instinct in man and everything man does is because of sex. The meaning of life is to survive, reproduce and have sex.

sex is the meaning of life, it is the holy grail and elixir of existence and peak of humanity.

"Love is love. How its expressed doesn't matter"

The bible disagrees. Did you know there are actually 4 words for love in the Greek language whereas English has only one?
Eros - "erotic" love
Storge - the love of a parent for a child
Philos - the love of two friends for one another and
Agape - a pure, thoughtful, unconditional love of action

God has specific definitions of each of these types of love and the proper way to express them. 1 Corinthians 13 is all about the true nature and expression of Agape love. Leviticus 18 and 20 are expositions on the proper context for Erotic love.

Great speech, and I agree, but sometimes that "pearls before swine" advice fits when describing attempts to reason with a certain kind of Christian.

Sex is not love.
Sex is sort of disgusting and primitive, especially when you put things in areas that are designed for the disposal of waste products.
Frankly, most people place too much value on sexual pleasure, and not enough on the consequences of having sex.

This is my non-Christian take.

Waiting for my violation notice and deletion of my answer.

Wow, have you got things backwards. Christians don't think sex is disgusting. We love sex. And because we love it we value it enough to do it right. Would you take an expensive steak and roll it in dirt before eating it? Then don't bust on Christians for keeping sex clean and good.
