This isn't a marriage propasal, I am just really against overly formal dress, especially in such a happy occaission as our wedding. I'd rather wear jeans and flip-flops with a colorful shirt than a black coat and black pants, with really questionable shiny shoes. does such a girl exist who doesn't want the $50,000 princess wedding?

Kim, I've been to a lot of weddings, and I had a hippie-type buddy who got married in a public garden wearing sandals and khakis. it was the coolest, most relaxed wedding I've gone to. just got me thinking

yeah jeans and flip-flops is over the top, I wear a suit everyday and get sick of it, but I can compromise with that.

sunshine, you give me hope!

I would like that kind of a wedding...on a beach at sunset, or in a field of wild flowers with the guy in jeans and me in a simple dress.

A lot of people don't have formal weddings. It depends on how much money the father of the bride has. Lots of people don't want formal weddings and have a house wedding instead or just get married by the justice of the peace. Sometimes if the couple want a fancy wedding and have good jobs they pay for their own wedding. Some guys enjoy all the excitement and parties as much as the girls. Whichever they just have fun. My husband wore jeans and a shirt and I worse a skirt, blouse, and sandals and we were married by a justice of the peace; but my daughters had big weddings. I didn't want a big wedding but my daughters did. So, I would say sure there are girls who like a quiet, private wedding; but sometimes it is nice to get really dressed up and feel ritzy.

I'm an American about to marry a Scotsman, and he'll be wearing a kilt! Funny, I always thought I'd have a very mellow wedding (I always thought maybe a clam bake: the groom could actually have worn flip flops for that...), but now my family will be traveling from the states, and my fiance wants us to have something formal... we're compromising, of course, because that's what you do. Maybe you could wear the tux for the ceremony and pictures, then change into your Hawaiian shirt for the reception. That might even be a funny memory when you look back at the pictures some day. Find a middle ground with your girl. And be prepared to keep doing that...

I thought this was going to be a question about wearing a suit instead of a tux, not jeans and flip flops instead of a tux! My groom will be wearing a suit instead of a tux. He has the other 365 days of the year (2008 is a leap year) to wear jeans and flip flops. But a wedding is a non-everyday special occasion that calls for some special non-everyday clothes to help signify that importance. And there are lots of women who feel that way, even those of us not having a $50,000 princess wedding.

Hi. I'm sure lots of girls wouldn't mind!! I actually think there are many girls that don't want to "overdo" it themselves!

I can certainly understand how you feel. After dressing up everyday for work....yuk! Who needs it?

As far as a wedding goes, though....well, maybe jeans are taking it a little too far....but I love khaki pants, a white shirt and sandals and having a wedding outside or better yet....on a beach! Yes, I'm sure lots of girls like the casual look for themselves and for their groom.

Look at these pictures! Ahhhh........

till it replaced right into a very close pal i probably does no longer come approximately. And if i did i does no longer go gown. go dressing is advantageous if thats what your into besides the undeniable fact that it won't be compelled on people merely because of the fact you like some thing distinctive. no longer basically that, it would be somewhat costly for the visitors. maximum adult men does no longer in advantageous condition right into a gown from a classic keep and can would desire to shell out somewhat some money to get one that suits. in case you like some thing relaxing and distinctive you should nonetheless go down the flowery gown course with out making your visitors experience uncomfortable. in my opinion i think of Alice in wonderland fancy gown may well be relaxing! think of how your dad might experience walking his daughter down the aisle wearing a gown!! might the groom be wearing the large white gown and the bride a tux?

Tuxes are only appropriate for formal weddings. Lots of weddings are not formal.

Informal weddings call for a business suit, not a tux.

Casual weddings (for example, on a beach in 100 degree weather) call for something like khaki slacks and white linen button up shirts-- something beachy but still sharp.

I didn't mind. My husband and I had a Las Vegas civil wedding in a JP's office. We wore our Sunday best. I was in a blue dress with pink flowers and he was in a white oxford and khakis.

Our wedding cost $1000. That included the airfare to Vegas, hotel for 2 nights, the license, the wedding itself, and food.

Sure. Im one of those girls. The wedding should be fun for both bride and groom and if my groom wants to not just be the ornament to set my dress I'd go for. But just as long as he puts some thoughts into what he chooses to wear. I mean when your up there you want people to notice you both. So to summarize I'd personally prefer the groom to stand out and be into the event just as much as I will.

I think a great suit is perfect...nothing crazily expensive. I think all of the money people spend on weddings can go towards a trip around the world AND a down payment on a house!
