It doesn't bother ME because I am not religious. I believe more strongly in freedom of (and from) religion than most self-proclaimed religious people. That's why I ask THEM.

I could care less what John
McCain does. But if this is true, it would appear that he
means to align himself with
the far right and is using the
church to do it. That's not very
honorable.

you may not be directing this towards me, because I'm not a regular church go'er type. But I do believe and I try to be faithful to the word, (but often fail) so I may not be the best to voice my opinion.

I will say this though, I'd be suspicious of anyone who didn't change over time. I think its normal to grow and rethink things. Its not like he went from being a episcopalian to a buddist or something (not that I have a thing against that either) I'm just saying - he didn't really drastically change his *core* beliefs, just his denomination. Ultimately he's still Christian.
I respect him for other things and especially in that he doesn't appear to wear his religion on his sleeve for political gain.

Just my take on things.

I'll always respect that guy for his service to this country and for not going all anti-Democrat for political gain in the '04 election. He has changed his tune on a few things and even changed his religion, but that's a politician for you. The Baptist thing is kind of funny though now that you mention it.

Hah - no, actually that is the first thing that I've heard about him that made me respect him...

Being a former Episcopalian myself I can see the reason to jump ship if you are a sincere believer in Christ. The Episcopal Church is on a downward spiral of rejecting the authority of the bible, infighting, and immorality.

i don't see why it would. I'm doubtful God cares what affiliation he's chosen as to denomination of church (provided it's not a cult like the moonies or something); so why should people?
The only thing God cares about is where people spend eternity. Their church affiliation is irrelavant.
anybody that makes a big stink over his choice of church has some problems. it's really none of their business. If God isn't offended, then they havent a right to be either.

It makes no difference to me what religious affiliation John McCain has--and neither should it be of any interest to anyone else.

No. He is a Christian and that is what matters.
