you might want to try a press. but if your hair is to thick try a curl kit or something like that then get the press every two weeks. keep your hair and scalp oiled. and get it braided or platted. when it gets longer try to wear plats like snoop or a pony tail. avoid wearing rubber bands to TIGHT if your hair is thin they will take out your hair. dont over wash your hair cheap stuff will dry your scalp. AND GET EVERYTHING DONE BY SOME ONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

me personally i think the press is better than the perm because of the chemical burns but a professional may work wonders with a relaxer.

It may be in youre genes. Does youre mother or father have long or short hair? If not do they take care of it? But don't let the "gene" thing stop you.

well you have a few options. first i would start on the inside. take a multi-vitamin and drink lots of water. hair grows faster if you are healthy. keep hair and scalp clean. once your hair starts growing better you can either relax it, braid or plait it, or go dreds. if you are going to keep the afro style make sure to keep the hair moisturized. you don't want your hair dry. that causes breakage
