My dog licks her butt, my cat licks herself, and my birds eat their own poop. You think since animals do it, that makes it appropriate or right for us? Aren't we supposed to be better then them instead of reducing ourselves to their strange ways?

Funny... first off, it's because so many people claim it is UNnatural, yet we see it all the time in nature. Sex is a natural thing.

Ever notice, humans are the only "animals" that kill their own kind for stupid reasons? We see kids killing each other over brand name clothes. Spouses killing each other over absolutely stupid reasons. I watched a clip of a show where a son shot his mother in the head twice because he got suspended from school and he knew his mother would be upset. Do we see animals doing this sort of thing? No... we see them killing only in order to survive - be it food or because they are threatened. I'd say we have reduced ourselves further below the level you have marked for animals....................

I often wonder why people are so obsessed with homosexuality.

You are right, just because homosexuality exist with some higher mammals doesn't mean it is normal with humans....but it also doesn't mean it is wrong either. We are complex animals and usually each individual has their own deviance from the "norms", which again doesn't indicate right or wrong.

Back to my original statement, I have never been able to understand why people, mainly men, are so both obsessed and offended by homosexuality. While I have no interest in affection (or sex) with a man, I t does not in the least bit bother me that others do.

We are them. We don't have to lick our buts because we inverted toilet paper and have opposable thumbs. My daughter tried to eat her own poop until my wife and I taught her not to. The only real thing we have over other animals is a more efficient information exchange and storage system. It is huge advantage, but we are still truly killer apes at heart. If you don't believe that, try watching the news more often...

If we want to talk 'better than', consider that animals don't develop bombs that kill millions while leaving buildings intact.

Animals live in harmony with the natural world.

Animals kill to live, not live to kill.

Female animals will suckle the young of another species to help the little ones live.

I think I'd be careful about throwing the 'better than animals' tagline around.

Cheers :-)

But we are animals, and if we were able to do any of those things, we probably would! (except for the bird crap thing, we'd learn not to do that again quick like!). Stupid spinal cord!

Besides, homosexual occuring in other animals simply illustrates that it occurs almost universally (like sex in general, animals do that, does that mean you shouldn't? Or eating?). The more poignant fact is that homosexuality results from an abnormal brain chemistry, not choice. People are literally born gay.

Absolutely! I can't understand it either. I know that at least most of us humans are higher than animals morally, intelligently, and spiritually. Oh, and you can add to your repertoire: my dog also eats her own feces, and I saw on Animal Planet that male kangaroos actually taste the female's urine to see if she's receptive to mating. I sure wouldn't use animals as examples to justify my sexual acts. Aren't you glad we're human!

EDIT: Shadower, when did you hear that animals have a concscience and know right from wrong, and can understand the Bible's teachings in order to differentiate between sinning and obeying God? When they can do all that, I'll be the first to preach to them.

The issue there is... while we view certain things as icky, technically it's only us humans that have decided it is, by nature, it's no big deal. If you licked your butt, it wouldn't kill you...but your fellow humans won't want to know about it. lol

The argument is if "animals are homosexuals, are homosexuals animals"? Are homosexuals subhuman - a species of lizard perhaps?

Afterall if they act like animals would they like to be treated like animals?

Why are we supposedly "better"? Because our intelligence and opposable thumbs have made us the "dominant life form" . . . for now? We're still animals - we just happen to be sapient. Regardless, we still need the same things to sustain ourselves as other lifeforms.

You perhaps should be looking into the question more clearly.

It was a response to some fundie who claims "God would never create homosexual". Then someone replied "Some animals are by nature homosexual".

For your information, some people are born with homosexual tendency, that is a fact not a fiction. Please try not to use your fiction to deny the facts.

So you are still on your one book a day trend? :P.
