I already live here, and I like it. I enjoy that I can step outside of my apartment and not know who I'm going to meet that day or what I'll see. It's a great place to just be whoever you want to be and not have to worry about someone else judging you.

One huge downside is the cost for housing. For what I pay for a small one bedroom, I could very well be paying for a mortgage on a nice house in the Midwest (where I'm from originally), but I guess it's the price to pay for quality of life.

Overall I love living here; it's a great place to be young, but don't plan on living here for the rest of my life.

New York City is a great place to visit- some of the world's best museums, restaurants, etc. However I personally would not want to live there. Traffic, noise, pollution, etc., not to mention that I dislike crowds very much in general!

Nice place to visit but I would never live there.
I live in northern NJ in a house with a yard. I can step outside in my bare feet onto soft grass and not be surrounded by strangers whenever I want to. I wouldn't want to live in those apartment-like homes in the city where you have people above and below you. It's too crowded for me, it's a smelly place and has a lot of weirdos walking the streets. One time I visited a friend's sister who lives near Washington Square Park. She had so many locks on her door and this crowbar-type gadget on a chain that barricaded her door. I couldn't believe it. And there were cages on her windows too!

No not really. I visited NYC last year and it was a wonderful trip, but it was too far removed from nature for me, Central Park notwithstanding.

I live near 2 lakes, the redwoods, mountains, trails, the Pacific Ocean, and I love it. I was born and raised here, in Oakland CA, and I cannot imagine living anywhere else. Except maybe next door in Berkeley!

This is home to me, just as NY is home to you. I am sure you love it there, just as I love it here. My heart is here, and I wold be ripped apart if I had to live somewhere else.

Would you ever consider living here? just curious...

Yes!! I don't mind the traffic and the busy-ness. I actually like it. I'm more of a city person at heart. Some people may find it too "stuffy" though, but I like it.

I went there last summer and I love it there and I can't wait to go back.

I honestly don't know it isn't a place I have been to and am likely to see.
I am over the other side of the Pacific.
From what I have seen you need to have money to live in style, but I guess it is like any other big city, that have suburbs to mach your pocket

No WAY! It's too loud, too crowded, to much traffic and too many wierdos there for this Rural little Green witch.
