PMS in the field is some scary stuff

2007-09-18 14:09:11 · answer #1 · answered by James the Just 3 · 3 1

It's definitely not because women can't HANDLE being an Infantry soldier. I have been Infantry for 6 years and have had to deal with some soldiers that could be put to shame by a lot of women. In fact, every major operation I performed while in Iraq, we had women right there with us, mostly because of the need to search femal Iraqis.
The reason is because a lot of our operations require us to be emplaced in a certain spot for a long period of time. Women have certain biological needs mostly pertaining to hygene that don't allow them to accomplish that. Try going a week without a shower and see what happens. I have personally had to go 30 days with no shower (Baby wipes are an Infantryman's best friend in the field).
The Army also feels that there could be certain personal issues. A guy and a girl together in a guard tower for 12 hours after 10 months of deployment sometimes isn't the best situation.

ok i hope i can clear some of this up some of these answers acutally have alot of proof it has been proven in a battlefield the a majority of male soldiers will make mistakes or wrong decisions affected by seeing a female in danger. the answer about the hip injury is true also the bone structure of a female is different and hip fractures and hip problems are a big deal among some female soldiers. also not as well explained is the fact that women even with their period aside are much more succeptable to sickness or infections because in a 30 day field problem or any war related enviroment there is not always running water and baby wipes can only do so much the health risk for a female is so much higher in a situation like that. by the way jessica lynch was not infantry she was in a mechanic company...I served in a unit she was attatched to. and to the comment about could you see them kicking in doors and fighting out there? you obviously have never been there or even heard the countless stories of women in combat just because a women is not in a combat MOS that does not mean she isnt near the action...read up on some medic stories in iraq. you think theyre not involved in any convoys or patrols? think real for a second. well i hope that clears things up a little bit at least for the infantry side.

Reasons follow:

1. No matter what some of the idiots around here will try to tell you a woman in the field, especially in a long term role will get men killed. With the exception of the losers on the planet who don't understand that men respect and protect women, most real men are taught those two very lessons growing up.

2. Sanitation. Ask a woman about these issues. Again, some morons will say it's not an issue. It is.

3. Adrenaline, testosterone, youth and a female do not belong in the field together at the same time. Look at troops that have historically been away from command for long patrols. Boys/men pumped up with the after effects of combat do not always think straight.

Primarily see 1.

Cops don't carry ruck sacks.

The military has been looking at it, but the biggest problem is the female hip and femoral head. Even during regular basic training, the most common injury for a female is a fracture of the femoral head or hip. And that is carrying a light load. This is caused by ruck marching. Some females can do it, but the risk of injury is too high for the general population currently.

This type of injury can lead to problems in the future with child birth.

Perhaps in the future this problem can be fixed, but right now it can't. Things like lighter combat loads, better medical treatments, and better diets. It really doesnt help that this generation drinks more soda then milk. Bone injuries in general are higher in Basic Training then ever before before because caffine actually weakens bones over time.

the main reason is because men instinctually want to protect women. every man has a soft spot for females because they are raised (well, most are) to take care of and protect the ones in their lives. since there would be such a small amount of women that would actually opt for infantry the men would be extremely close to them and more likely to do something stupid to save them than they would another male.

basically, the only way women could be infantry is if it was divided by sex

Responders 2 and 3 are correct. In addition, a cop goes home after his/her shift. A soldier may work, live, and sleep outdoors for months, with the stress of combat thrown in.

I personally believe it would be a distraction.
Also the way I was raised I would be looking out for the female (whether or not she needed it).
It is very different in tight quarters with many men, or in a foxhole or bunker, than in a squad car with men only at the station.

cuz the police isnt like war.

first of all, women must be stupid to join the military

war and combat is a mans job, leave it to them god dammit

also, as everyone knows, women arent wanted, NOR respected in the military..do you know how many sexual assaults, pshyically and verbally, there have been in the past 5 years??????

also..women are actually weaker than men(fact, proven)

it is proven that women are weaker towards the upperbody

how will they take the extensive recoil from rifles for a long period of time? how will they slam doors in? how will they dive for cover?

also, women interfere during combat..even if they dont wanna

men have a need to help women further than needed (been proven in iraq varied times) where men left their firing posts to support the womens firing position

military isnt the place for women

im not gay, but women really need to stop attempting to have balls.

(not justifying this fact)

police are not military, and "beat" cops are not federal employees... they may be state, county, city... you get the idea... each jurisdiction's government determines their policies... the military falls under the federal government... so press the issue with those in washington.
