The catholic church claims the Jesus founded mama though Peter. Therefore claiming Peter as the first pope.

Yet, in Latan and Greek it say that Simon means "sand" and Peter means "a little stone". Jesus said, "on this rock I will build my church." So Peter could never be that rock because right after that, Jesus calls Peter "Satan". Ponder that! Read 1 Tim. 3:2-5 and John 1:42, "Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone." (a little pebble). Jesus and Jesus alone is the Rock!

Besides, Peter had a mother-in-law. Why would Peter have a mother-in-law then tell everyone else in the catholic church they are not allow to be married and be a priest at the same time. What that boils down to saying is that Peter was nothing more than a hypocrite to the extremes! But most of all, that is also claiming that God Himself was allowing Peter to be such a person.

If Peter proved anything, he proved that as far as God is concern, it is ok to be married and be a priest at the same time. Instead, as usual, it proves that the catholic church loves taking the Bible out of contents to serve its own purpose. The Bible (AV1611) does not contradict itself, religion, like the cat-aholic church, contradict the Bible.

Up Date:

Boniface, not one verse that you have quoted proves that
the vatican is the "one true church" of God. Nor does it prove that Jesus made Peter the the first pope of the vatican. Matthew 16:18, John 17:20-23, Matthew 28:19-20, Ephesians 4:3-6

It is nothing uncommon for Jesus to speak of Himself in third person in the Bible. Any person that has ever read the Bible would know this to be true. And any person that believes in God, knows that He is not conterdicting Himself either. Remember Romans 3:4 "let God be true, but every man a liar;" The reason people believe that the Bible conterdicts itself because people "feel" that if they don't understand the Bible, it must have error in it. Never given considertion to: Isaiah 55:8-9, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Now, referring to Matthew 16:18. Jesus is saying, Yes, you are Peter and I am going to build my church on a rock and and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Remember 1 John 4:4 "... because greater is he that is in you (Jesus), than he that is in the world (satan)." There is only one Rock. Refer to John 14:6: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." How do you turn a pebble into a rock?

Something else. Have you ever read the verses just before Matthew 16:18? If you did, you would notice something...

"When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:13-18

If you take notice, all Jesus did was asked Peter who He (Jesus) was and he called Him by name. Then Jesus called Peter by name. And that is what the vatican is trying to claim as their proof that Jesus appoint Peter as the first pope.

I am a recovering Catholic, so perhaps I get to answer. The Catholic Church claims to have an uninterrupted mandate from Jesus through Peter up to the current Benedict. History doesn't bear this out at all, but believers seldom pay attention to the history of their belief. There have always been many branches of Christianity, even of Catholicism long before the Protestant revolution. Roman Catholicism claims to be THE ONLY true church. If you believe it, you're a good Roman Catholic.

good i have no idea approximately denying the Children. I think it's right that they pass once they recognize what baptism is. Jesus was once now not baptized until 30, and no youngsters have been being baptized. That has allot of non secular have an impact on. I in my opinion don't think in any of the Church's. The Lord won't exhibit me his church, all he suggests me is all people going their possess method planting Church's. Why will have to we pray over the lifeless? they're lifeless and are already within the lords care or fury. But once more that's my possess knowledge now not Gods. He has but to exhibit me if purgatory is truly. Personally to me it's like why do we'd like Jesus if all of us pass to heaven ultimately besides. Not to say you open doorways to men and women that could desire to sin extra...howdy little time in hell, and Paradise kinda Idea. Again that is my possess middle and now not Gods. So until He suggests me the reality Catholics could have a situation in my middle as good as all of the Church's. I quite do not need any religion the the church. I have not begun to uncover a catholic church that speaks in tongues...however on the other hand I don't spend so much time in that church. I understand Pentecostals are in tongues allot despite the fact that now adays they're few. A present of the holy spirit is talking in tongues. So I seek for Gods spirit within the church and all I see as I have studied the church is pentecostals.....however now a days it's few Church's. Heck it's been five yrs feel I heard talking in tongues.

he did, but he founded it upon men, the apostles or bishops Jesus chose, they in turn can make other bishops (like when they replaced Judas) He gave to the church the teaching magiserium, he gave us 7 sacraments. Church , protestants think is the people. that is silly. Jesus said I will build my church , it is a specific set of doctrines and beliefs, in the fullness of truth. Protestants do not have the fullness of truth.

Jesus said:

"thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18, KJV)

"Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me" (John 17:20-23, KJV)

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:19-20, KJV).

Jesus established only one church, the one He founded on Peter, the rock. He prayed that all His followers would be one, and He promised that He would be with His Church until the end of the world. This was recognized by Saint Paul when he wrote:

"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit -- just as you were called to one hope when you were called -- one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all" (Ephesians 4:3-6, NIV).

One faith means one set of beliefs, one set of doctrines; doctrines which never change. There is only one Catholic Church but there are over 26,000 Protestant denominations today; each separated from the other by differing doctrines. Each of these denominations can be traced back to a single individual who was not Saint Peter or one of the apostles.

Every Christian church possesses some of the truths revealed by our Lord but only the Catholic Church can trace its origins all the way back to Jesus and Saint Peter through the rite of ordination; the laying on of hands and passing on of episcopal responsibility and authority. Because only the Catholic Church can be traced all the way back to Jesus, only the Catholic Church can be said to possess all the revealed truth. After all, Jesus founded the Church, promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against it (which means that it would be perpetual and not teach error), and promised to be with it until the end of time. Not at the end of time, but continually until the end of time. Either the Catholic Church was and is the one true Church, or the Bible is wrong, or Jesus lied.

Pay special attention to this verse as it is Christ’s promise to the Church and to all humanity that the apostles and their successors will be led to all truth promising an infallible leadership of the Church and a foundation of truth given to the Church through Christ’s chosen leadership. This is the promise of divine assistance to the Church to decide all issues of faith and morals.

(Joh 14:26 DRB) But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you.

Here we find in the following verse that thee was more for the apostles to learn than what is written or could be taught by Christ at that time but it must be taught in time by the Spirit. This is prophetic that over time the Spirit would lead to deeper understanding within the leadership of the Church as the Church is prepared to understand. God teaches His children the same as we teach our own with deeper and more profound teaching to match our maturity in faith.

(Joh 16:12 DRB) I have yet many things to say to you: but you cannot bear them now.

(Joh 16:13 DRB) But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself: but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak. And the things that are to come, he shall shew you.

(1Co 2:13 DRB) Which things also we speak: not in the learned words of human wisdom, but in the doctrine of the Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

(Eph 4:13 DRB) Until we all meet into the unity of faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the age of the fulness of Christ:

(Eph 4:15 DRB) But doing the truth in charity, we may in all things grow up in him who is the head, even Christ:

(Act 15:27 DRB) We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who themselves also will, by word of mouth, tell you the same things.

(Act 15:28 DRB) For it hath seemed good to the Holy Ghost and to us to lay no further burden upon you than these necessary things:

The following verse is clear evidence that the truth comes through the Church and not solely through Scriptures.

(Eph 3:10 DRB) That the manifold wisdom of God may be made known to the principalities and powers in heavenly places through the church,

(Eph 3:9 DRB) And to enlighten all men, that they may see what is the dispensation of the mystery which hath been hidden from eternity in God who created all things:

Through the leaders of the Church…….

(Eph 3:20 DRB) Now to him who is able to do all things more abundantly than we desire or understand, according to the power that worketh in us:

St. Paul tells the faithful to test everything and to do so there must be an infallible guide or rule of faith to test against and that is clearly His Church.

(1Th 5:21 DRB) But prove all things: hold fast that which is good.

St. Paul further teaches that the Church is the keeper of the rule of faith through the deposit of faith and that is the Church under the apostles and their successors.

(1Ti 3:15 DRB) But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

St. John says that the faithful listens to the apostles and their successors and through their teaching one can know truth from error because they have been led through the Spirit to all truth.

(1Jo 4:6 DRB) We are of God. He that knoweth God heareth us. He that is not of God heareth us not. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

It is the Church that is the measure of truth and not the Bible. This is very clear as recorded in Scripture and should be clear to all seeking Him in spirit and in truth. It is the Church that has the authority of Christ to lead humanity to salvation and spread the Gospel to all men.

In Christ
Fr. Joseph
