i'm really worried that since we're not married yet everything will go to his parents instead of me. is there anyway i can check with someone to make sure i am the contact for everything? will his recruiter still be able to help me out?

reception can take a couple days to a week or so. mine was about a week. he will write you a letter very soon after he is done with that. just get the address off of the envelope. he should be able to make a 10 second phone call as well. (at least that's what they did for us) just long enough to say "hi, i love you. I made it OK. i have to go." "click" don't get mad at him if that happens. as for you being the contact. it would be up to him to fill that out on the paperwork when he did all that.

Tim is right. More then likely you will get a letter from him. He will have time to write letters each week as long as he doesn't get in trouble. Usually after the first 3 weeks of training (after reception) they will start allowing weekly phone calls (usually Sunday). Again, that is dependent of if he gets in trouble.

I hate to tell you this, but welcome to the world of the military as a (non) spouse. You don't have spousal rights. Essentially, his parents are next of kin. If and when he tells you things, you will learn of them.
