It means all the illegals can stay without penalty and all they have to do is register. Not sure on when the vote is, but be careful who you vote for in the presidential election and vote for what you feel is right. Only you can decide what is right for you.

Amnesty (from the Greek amnestia, oblivion) is an act of justice by which the supreme power in a state restores those who may have been guilty of any offense against it to the position of innocent persons. It includes more than pardon, inasmuch as it obliterates all legal remembrance of the offense.

That's the legal definition of it. Since you are asking in this category, I assume you mean as it fits into immigration.

It's a system that basically says, if you broke the law "X" years ago, and are here illegally, we are going to forgive that, pretend you are here legally, and move you ahead of all those who are attempting to do it the right way. It's a reward for breaking the law.

In terms of immigration, anything less than requiring those who are here illegally to go back to their country of origin to begin the process to come here legally is "amnesty".

If we do that, it suggests that anyone that doesn't like our laws should just ignore them, and if they ignore them long enough, we'll give them a free pass.

You know what? We tried that twenty years ago, and were given the promise that we wouldn't do it again. More illegals came here because we did that, figuring we would, in fact, do it again.

So, shall we do it again? If so, why bother to have rules at all?

A Sleeper Amnesty Time to Wake Up from the DREAM Act

Just three months after the Senate immigration bill met its well-deserved end, amnesty advocates in the U.S. Congress resumed their efforts. Recently, Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) announced on the Senate floor his intention to offer the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act as an amendment to the defense authorization bill.

The DREAM Act (S. 774) is a nightmare. It is a massive amnesty that extends to the millions of illegal aliens who entered the United States before the age of 16. The illegal alien who applies for this amnesty is immediately rewarded with "conditional" lawful permanent resident (green card) status, which can be converted to a non-conditional green card in short order. The alien can then use his newly acquired status to seek green cards for the parents who brought him in illegally in the first place. In this way, it is also a backdoor amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens who brought their children with them to the United States.

What is less well known about the DREAM Act is that it also allows illegal aliens to receive in-state tuition rates at public universities, discriminating against U.S. citizens from out of state and law-abiding foreign students. It repeals a 1996 federal law that prohibits any state from offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens unless the state also offers in-state tuition rates to all U.S. citizens.

On its own, the DREAM Act never stood a chance of passing. Every scientific opinion poll on the subject has shown over 70 percent opposition to giving in-state tuition benefits to illegal aliens.

Not surprisingly, the DREAM Act languished in committee for five years after it was first introduced in 2001-until the opportunity arose to hitch it to the Senate's "comprehensive" immigration bills of 2006 and 2007.

That is something the government does every so many years to give citizenship to all the people who broke the laws by sneaking into our country illegally. And every time they do it, they say it is the last time and that they will close the borders so it doesn't happen again. It's a big lie every time they do it. The government encourages the illegals to come here to hold wages down on our working people to give big corporations a break. Big corporations bribe the politicians to do this.

Amnesty is turning all the illegal aliens here right now into legal citizens. We the people don't get to vote on it, but congress does, all we can do it protest against it.

The idea is to allow people who are here illegally to gain some measure of legitimacy, meaning allow them to stay legally. There are several problems with this, first off, many people don't like the idea of rewarding 12 million law-breakers while others are coming in via legal means. Also, it seems like a lot of the people who are here illegally have no intention to assimilate, so how does this benefit society at large.

Hopefully it won't be voted on, there are many of us protesting this idea.

Fact: Amnesty= criminals who illegally enter the country, and the politicians who let them stay here. It's the politically correct way to characterize crimaliens who betray us, and those who work hard to legally enter the country. FACT.
