Without fail, if someone asks about them on here, someone says not to have them at all. Personally, I think they are a nice way to break up a sometimes boring event, and I've never noticed ANYONE complaining about them. It seems as long as there aren't a ton of them and as long as they're fun, people enjoy them.

What are your feelings about them?

Love them all, no matter how silly. The trick is to not have too many, make each one short, and not have them be embarrassing to anyone.

Hi. Most people here hate shower games. I think shower games go way back when all the ladies liked to get together and perhaps it was a small shower.

In today's busy world, the showers are larger (people wise). At least the ones I have been to are. Also, people work all week and don't want to waste time with a long drawn out shower.

It is enough to eat, have the bride open gifts, have cake and then go. What is popular here, though, is to maybe give away a table centerpiece of flowers or a plant, something like that.

I like some of them and think others are tacky and tasteless. I think it depends on the game.

The ones I have seen at most showers are bridal shower bingo and some sort of trivia game, those are fine. They dont take much effort and get people talking and keeping busy during the gift opening, which can get tedious (how many times can you ooh and aah over a set of dish towels, it does get old after a while)

The TP wedding dress I think it the most idiotic game and I would never take part in it. Any game that takes effort I wouldnt participate in, I am not at a children's party afterall, I expect a bridal shower to be a dignified and classy event.

I don't hate them but don't feel really comfortable playing those..... usually there were mothers and mothers-in-law (i.e. elder ladies) at the showers I've attended, and you cannot behave the same way with them there (at least in my country - Mexico - where we are a bit more conservative), say the same stuff you'd say if you were only among young women (such as sex jokes, for example), etc..... some of the games are plain dull too. So I'd rather not have them and just sit and chat and eat and drink with the other girls, what's wrong with that? If I get bored I just leave...... don't need any games to have fun.

I HATE bridal shower games!
Personally all my friends and family have banned them from our showers, bridal or baby.
It just forces people that don't no each other and already feel awkward into even more awkward interactions.
People don't complain because they are polite and the day is about the bride not them.
The only person I've ever known that enjoyed them was my crazy great aunt.

I don't mind them, as long as it's no more than 1 or 2 games and it doesn't take long and isn't confusing. The only one that irritated me was when they passed out some word scrambles and did not tell everyone to leave the page face down until they say go. Some of the group inappropriately started working on it beforehand and the others didn't, so of course they won....not that it matters who wins a goofy tea towel, but still, it was rude and caused some eye rolls!

Since you asked, I will tell you I can't stand bridal shower or baby shower games.

Only a few showers I have been to have had games and they were just not fun at all to me. I prefer just socializing, I've never been to a boring shower. I think if you are bored you are not making an effort to have a good time or to make sure others are having a good time, that is just MHO.

I'd rather not... I enjoy showers with good company and some nice events like, pics taken of individual guests and then inserted into an album. We were able to write a personal note to the bride. I thought some gifts that were funny were great to see at the shower. Tacky Nighties for the wedding night.

I don't mind as long as it's kept to one or two games. When you have to sit and play games for an hour or more it gets a little old.

I do reach a point every year though where I wish they would end. Games that end up at every shower like the toilet paper wedding dress are fun the first two times, but after you have to play them every week they start to loose their magic.

I dont' really like games at that kind of event but if they're well organized, it could be fun. Stupid games like bridal shower bingo aren't any fun. You could haev a trivia game with teams or a puzzle for groups to work on.

I really hate them, but you know what, I am attending the party because I love my friend and I always throw myself in to them and make the biggest effort to enjoy myself and have fun, I can't help it that I hate them, but you would never guess I was having the worst time by looking at me, I am always the first one up to join in and look like I am having fun!!! I would never make my friends party awkward just because I do not like games, that's not fair to them.
