Their Statements of Faith are the same. The differences are in the minor doctrines they hold such as:

BAPTISM;
Meth. sprinkle water on the head, usually at the
age of 12
Bapt. Immerse the whole body under water, when
a person of any age professes Christ as
their personal Savior and asks to be
baptized.

PICKING PREACHERS;

Meth. Are assigned to their churches by the
hierarchy (not sure what it's called)
Bapt. Are called and voted in by the local
congregation members

Those are just 2 examples but, of course, there are many more differences. And since you qualified the Bapt. as independent specifically, I have to say the independents are different in smaller ways than the other Baptists. We could go on and on about details here, but I think you get the idea.

The Methodists are more liturgical in worship then the Independent Baptists. This and a list of doctrinal differences separate the one from the other.

It depends on who you ask: the Baptists or the Methodists.
They are both Christian Faiths.
