Poison in the plants are made up of chemicals. The plants physiologists call them as secondary metabolites as they are not essential for the survival. These are complex organic molecules that are produce as a defence chemicals.

Poisons are just chemicals. Plants make all kinds of chemicals by putting smaller molecules together according to instructions they have in the DNA.
