My Groom to be and I have talked about blue and green (our favorite colors) as our wedding colors since we started talking about getting married. Now that we are engaged and I am seriously thinking about it, I really don't want blue because I feel its so popular. I don't feel green could be the main color due to a dark green (the only acceptable green) would not look good on one of my bridesmaid. I want something different, but still something I love.

We are getting married early Nov (2008 of course) and I am clueless. I read about using your favorite sports team color and since I am a huge baseball fan, I was thinking about doing Red and white (maybe a little blue since their colors are Red and Blue, with white).

Any other ideas? I have a bridesmaid with dark hair and darker skin, and another with blonde and fair skin. I want something that looks good on both.

Both bridesmaids are out-of-state. I am in Minnesota, one is in Michigan and another is in New York. The three of us getting together is down-right-impossible and will be for quite some time.

Barbie thinks pink would suit your bridesmaids and would go nice with green. Pink is Barbie's favourite color.

Before choosing a definite color, why not take your bridesmaids to a bridal store and browse. You want to get an idea of what colors are available and what styles you like.

Also I think you should go with the dark green. It's nice that you are taking your bridesmaids into consideration when choosing a color but if you continue to do this you will have a hard time making all your decisions because you can't please everyone! So go with the color you like regardless of how it will look on your bridesmaids. No one will notice if it is not a good color anyway because all eyes will be on you and your groom. PLus your bridesmaids should be happy to wear any color you choose even if they don't like it.

Good luck!

I really like the idea of an aqua or turquoise blue color. Something bright. You can always add a green color that would match as well. I think it would look very nice. I think a darker blue wouldn't look as good on lighter skinned person, and red I feel doesn't always look so great on blondes and fair skinned. I think the bright blue would look nice on both though!

Here's the dress I picked out for my bridesmaids- only it will be in the lipstick-hot pink color because our colors are hot pink and black. But look at it in the turquoise color and see what you think of the color. Good luck!

I think your concept of blue and green is perfect, but you need to choose unique shades. A great color combination out there right now is Turqoise, with Lime Green and Chocolate Brown accents. This would be perfectly acceptable in November, because you wouldn't put your bridesmaids in those colors. Put them in a neutral, with the colors as accents in their flowers, hair pieces, or a bright sash on the dress. Red tends to make everyone look "ruddy" unless you're very pale or very dark, so if you're going to choose a true red, you will be cutting out a large portion of skin and body types. Try different shades of red for each girl, all coordinating into a grand scheme of colors. If you need any more help, email me @ heatherfalcone@sbcglobal.net

use blue as a fill in color only, use the red and white or green and white or ivory as your main colors. Each bridesmaid and wear a different color of dress, so that the one who doesnot look good in green can wear a different color. Make their flowers to match their dress with ivory being the main color and fill and ribbons in either of the other colors. also consider the month, fall colors are the in colors for then.

I had a similar problem. I just went to a bridal store and made the bridesmaids try on different colors. That's how I ended up picking my colors for the wedding.

Go to the hardware store and spend some time in the paint aisle playing with chips until you get 2-3 looks you like, then take those home and make the final decision with your fiancee.

Have a few "sets" of wedding colors. They really come in handy later on when you are trying see if something will coordinate or you can give them to vendors when you want the color matched exactly.

I think you should stick with the blue idea. I have been to many weddings this year and blue wasn't used at any of them. I think it's a popular color in general but not as popular at weddings as you might think. I think a navy blue would look beautiful on different skin tones and would be slimming as well. Navy blue could go with many accent colors such as ivory, pink, silver, beige, mauve, sage green, yellow, peach etc. Whichever you like.

Here is what I would do. Go with blue (your choice in shade) and white, and use a lot of greenery in your decor, rather than flowers with color. Your bouquet could be white roses, but accented with a lot of greenery. Use greenery for your centerpieces or in your centerpieces, rather than flowers. You would still get your favorite colors in there, plus the blue/white for your baseball team (the Twins I presume - fan here as well).

Check out these bios at theknot.com for ideas.

My suggestion is to remember that the bridesmaids dresses do not have to be identical. Just pick a color. Then allow each bridesmaid to find a dress in that color that is flattering to her and fits her budget.
