I have a problem. I went to my sisters wedding not to long ago. When I got there I got nothing but bragging on how my sisters and her husband has all this money and how they can afford a lavish lifestyle. I think that if you have the money than invest in your future and dont buy stuff that you really dont need. Well Long story short, my sister ended up buying her husband a rolex and her husband in turn bought her a 50000 dollar car. And from now on my mom and my stepdad has been nothing but contempt to me and my wife in saying that my sister and her husband has more stuff then you and they just bought that car and that expensive watch. I dont like hearing about this all the time, and I dont need to be compared to my sister when I go out to buy another vehicle in a couple of days since my older one is quite a few years old. The only thing that I see from my parents and my sister is that they are materialistic instead of just being happy with what they have. Is there something more.

Sounds like you are much more mature....don't spend so much time with them if they are that way, it's odd how you turned out to NOT be like the rest of the family, but good for you!

Things, they don't last, love lasts, how we treat others, that's what this trip is all about. Rich people don't have the love of family and friends, there superficial, there kids are snobs, they don't fit in at the family picnic,
Nobody wants to be broke, having a Little money at the end of the day is nice, some months you scrape by, I know for a fact that we are the people who help friends and family.
The rich do give their money to charity and get a receipt so they can get a tax break.
Oprah can keep her 1000 tread count sheets, mine are just fine.
This will make you a better person.
God bless.

it seems that so few people are happy with what they have. they always want more more more. its a very materialistic society, unfortunately. in my opinion and experience those wanting more are missing out on what life is really about. they are not ever truly happy cause they need that "next thing" first. It like the dog that chases his tail. if you are able to be happy with what you have, my hats off to you! try not to buy into your family's mindset and live your life your way.

I understand your point.

You have the healthier outlook on life. STUFF doesn't make us happy. I'm one of those who believe that rampant materialism causes much of the problems in our world.
