I'm usually pretty good with dreams, but I had one that has me puzzled. I dreamed that I had a plant growing out of my belly button. I kept trimming it back (like a person would pluck embarrassing ear hairs), but it kept growing.
Any ideas?

Huh. The imagery sounds positive, yet in your dream you're uncomfortable with it. Maybe it is about growth on your part, but for some reason it is a step you aren't ready to take. A couple of posters have noted the plant's location could indicate new life inside of you, and this is one possiblility, another I would note is that it could be growth in your spiritual life, but growth you aren't ready to complete yet, or growth in your ability to use your intuition and discernment, the navel is a spiritual center.... for example, the phrase "contemplating your navel" is used by people sometimes when they are making a joke toward someone who is into meditation...

Are you by any chance taking birth control pills (or using some other method), but wishing that you could have a child? The birth control, whatever the method, is "cutting off" your ability to have a child (the plant) repeatedly. However, your body is still able to bear a child, so the plant continues to grow.
Just my hunch... might be a mile away from correct, but there it is :-)

My instant reaction was that, because the dream involves something natural and potentially beautiful growing from inside your stomach that, perhaps, the dream involves pregnancy.
Are you concerned about becoming pregnant?
Scared of pregnancy but at the same time welcoming it but now is not the time (cutting back the plant).
Perhaps you are concerned about your sexuality?

You might be having a problem you cannot seem to control in real life. You keep making a decision and it does not seem to help. Could be bills keep mounting up and you never seem to get a handle on them. But that is just how I would interrupt it.
