Great choice of car, is someone giving you the choice between the 2 or are you buying one yourself? If receiving then of course you take the 3.5 because it is more expensive and therefore worth more. If you are buying one you might want to go with the 2.5 as it can be alot cheaper. Like someone above said, the 3.5 has alot more options, so the price of a base 2.5 new was more then $10,000 less then a fully loaded 3.5. The 2.5 has 175HP which is plenty for a car of its size and gets pretty good gas mileage too. So, unless you are desiring alot of power or more luxury(2.5 has most of the same optional items though) and can afford the 3.5, I'd just stick with the 2.5.

2.5 almost 30 miles a gallon and a little rough sounding when driven hard. 3.5 liter much more smoothness and almost twice the horsepower. So what is it going to be luxurious smooth and lower gas mileage two weeks between fill ups, or a little rougher and three weeks between fill ups? Either car is a good choice because four doors and good size trunk you will have to figure the economy vs luxury thing all out for your self. Darn the economy if Americans do one thing good it is burn the most fuel in all the world! And if we don't there are a billion people in China that want to take our place as fuel users. I drive a 400 hp sedan

Honestly the 2.5 is a great car, has plenty of power and gets way better mileage. At 175 hp the 2.5 moves right along and is quiet and dependable.

The 3.5 has 260 hp and recommends hi test (although regular will run fine in it), so you pay for about 90hp and some extra smoothness.

It depends on what you want it to do. Get the 2.5 if you want good gas milage. Get the 3.5 if you want more power. The 2.5 is a 2.5l 4 cylinder. The 3.5 is a 3.5l v-6.

The 3.5S has more options too.
Go to http://autos.msn.com and check it out for the 2006 year.
The engine on the 3.5S is awesome. 3.5 liter V6 putting out 250 horsepower. Same engine (with different power ratings) is used on the Nissan 350z, Murano, Infiniti G35.
