Illegal immigration is a cancerous growth on the backs of every hard working American citizen, what can be done to cure this disease ?

Some of you appear to beconfused about the difference between legal, and illegal. Those of you must check your moral compass and stop comparing the illegals to the immigrants that arrived on Ellis island.

Edit to lover below me:
Yes we are made from immigrants. Small numbers of immigrants who had to work or starve. Our current LEGAL immigration numbers are higher then ever before in history - over 1.3 million, yet we are somehow wrong or bad in your eyes. How many people should we allow into this country a year to make you happy? Would 10 million a year be OK? Probably not to you - At that rate we still would not make a dent in the 3rd worlds needs and the USA would cease to exist in a few years due to overpopulation, pollution, disease, infrastructure meltdown, social unrest and total political collapse. But maybe you want that!!!

I don't mean to be the voice (or typer?) or reason here, but immigration is certainly not an infection. Anyone who would associate immigration to an infection is clearly naive and has no understanding of what this country was built upon. So many people want to claim to be proponents of our country's foundation when it comes to gun ownership, or freedoms or liberties, but so many want to neglect the fact that we are a country of immigrants. Why? Because this would be an inconvenience. Sure, support the basic principles that best accomodate you, who cares about less fortunate human beings. It is so ignorant to even contemplate shutting down the border.

I understand that so called illegal immigration can put more pressure on the average taxpayer, but as America, the country of opportunity, it is our duty to welcome them, and our government's duty to ensure that proper steps are taken to best handle the situation. So many American's are all for helping out other countries, but when it comes to their front step, they want to neglect it. If you're so infuriated at the increase in taxes that it takes to welcome immigrants, why don't you put pressure on our government to stop spending hundreds of billions of dollars on a war that was utterly unecessary.

There is such a double standard on issues like this and it sickens me. So many people want to turn this into a political issue, but it is an ethical issue. It is the right thing to do. Welcome these people, help them, and maybe your eyes will open to that fact.

As for "Mr. The world will end Guy", calm down. I assure you the world is not ending.

P.S. look at my avatar, I know a thing or two about immigration and some of your comments are disgraceful and insulting.

I am not sure anything can be done at this point short of a civil war.

NAFTA is already in the works and hundreds of Mexican trucking companies already have contracts to come into the USA.
I know one thing... we had better be careful no matter what we do. Bush has already given Halliburton the contracts to build detention camps across the USA.
I talked to my cousin who is a boat pilot/Captain on the River. They have tried getting him to sign a statement that if needed in an emergency he will ship people. He has refused to sign.

We should all do more research and be careful what we sign.

It is not an infection to IMMIGRATE, it is a way to provide work around the world. Example: a chinnese guy comes and studies here, then it goes back to he's country and their economical status is positive and it balances, right?!. The same goes to any other Immigrant in this country. There are people that have become the best or one of the best, in their careers , and they were Immigrants. The computer you write on comes from China, the orange you eat was brought by a hispanic, the sausages you enjoy eating, first came from Germany. Now Immigrants or Immigration are defenetly NOT an infection, it's a NET around the world.

Deport people faster!! Be harsher with punishment for illegals. I could give you a list of at least a dozen illegals in my apartment complex right now. But, without probably cause or whatever, you can't get them. BS.

I deal with illegal immigrants on a daily basis, and it makes me sick. I'm so worried for the day when one crashes into me while I'm driving my 2 year old to daycare. And because they don't have insurance, or a license, or anything, so they take off. Then what?

Wow.

I love how people forget that America was built off of immigrants. Have you ever been to Ellis Island? How can you hate something that Americans have grown from? You also cannot be a real native to America, can you?

Basically, I don't think immigrants are cancerous growths on the back of America. Yes, there should be tightened security at the border but I do not think we should kick every immigrant out of our country. These people are coming to America because they want to provide for their family. Because they want to escape war, poverty, and horrible living situations. America is the land of the free and the home of opportunity. We strive on immigrants in our country that make our country more cultural.

Also, after reading some of the answers, I am really amazed that people think this way. Here we sit saying because no background checks are done we could be allowing terrorists, child molestors, and murderers in our country. I hate to say it but how many of those are already here and have been here for years and years?

To that guy up there who tried to call me out:

Nice making your own conclusions. I could totally understand how you got that from what I said. Nice. Your response is so asinine, illogical, and overexaggerated that I won't even respond about it anymore than this.

Edit: Wow, Martin Luther King, you would never strike me as a bigot. Didn't you once want equality for all people? Wasn't that your dream?

With all do respect, there are numerous illegal immigrants in America that get hired because they work for less. How about we take a look at minimum wage? How about we raise it so Americans can actually survive without having the illegal immigrants taking the jobs? The reason illegal immigrants still live in America is this: America strives off of them. They do cheap and easy work. You know how many big business/big corporations are hiring these illegal immigrants? Tons.

What do you want the government to do? Close the border? Deport people who have a life here? We might as well close down Canada as well. I know I sure don't want to spend all my taxes on those Canadians. Better yet, let's make sure no immigrants want to run to our country. :et them solve their problems on their own.

Seriously, put yourself in their shoes. Imagine if someone came to your house and ripped you out of your house (that you have work so hard to get) and deported you back to your country.

America - people who like to help out third world countries at the drop of the dime but screw the Mexicans. They don't deserve it.

Silly.

You do not get it. President Bush has NO INTENTION of enforcing borders. He signed an illegal agreement with Canada and Mexico in Waco, Texas in late March of 2005 to make Canada, Mexico and America one open country.

"At their meeting in Waco, Texas, at the end of March 2005, U.S. President George W. Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin committed their governments to a path of cooperation and joint action. We welcome this important development and offer this report to add urgency and specific recommendations to strengthen their efforts. "

"To that end, the Task Force proposes the creation by 2010 of a North American community to enhance security, prosperity, and opportunity. We propose a community based on the principle affirmed in the March 2005 Joint Statement of the three leaders that "our security and prosperity are mutually dependent and complementary." Its boundaries will be defined by a common external tariff and an outer security perimeter within which the movement of people, products, and capital will be legal, orderly and safe. Its goal will be to guarantee a free, secure, just, and prosperous North America. "

GET IT??? NORTH AMERICA...NO MORE AMERICA

Time for Americans to stop sleeping, eating themselves into comas and wake the **** up.
