I have three cars, junkers.... but paid for cars, liability on all 3 (no collision). I really dont care if one of them goes up in flames or rolls into a ditch while I'm not in it as long as no-one is hurt. Now... I can only drive one at a time. Why do I have to have all three insured? Why cant I (me, myself; the driver) be insured instead for damage that I might cause, and the insurance follows me to whatever car I drive? I live in Connecticut, the insurance capital of the world (which may have something to do with it).
Thanx!

if your cars are junkers then ditch them and keep just one then your problems will disappear.

Well, the insurance company figures that there must be some reason you have 3 cars. If you want, you can register 2 of them as non-operational and then only pay for insurance for (and drive) one of them at a time.

You may be only able to drive one car at a time -but there is no reason why you can't let your friends/family drive your other cars. So it is possible for all cars to be on the road at the same time.

Since insurance follows the car- not the driver - all cars are required to be insured.

How many times are you going to ask this?

it just doesnt work like that. Vehicles are insured... not people. You cant just "change the whole system" and make up your own fantasy world.

If that was the case... I think i should only pay rent on my apartment the hours im actually IN my apartment. Why should i pay for it when im not there?

And you know what? My car is parked for 8 hours a day while im at work so i think im only going to pay 2/3 of my car payment

geesh.

Insurance is to show proof of financial responsibility. The only thing I can suggest is to pick one car that you'll keep insurance on, garage the others, call up your agent and ask that they suspend the coverage on the garaged vehicles. Just don't drive the suspended vehicles. That way you still have insurance and that makes the government happy but you're not paying out the wazoo for cars you're not driving. Win win.

Are you going to keep asking this until you get an answer you like?

Cause if you are, my advice is to toss all 3 cars in a ditch, douse them with gas, and toss in a match. You can take a different bus every day and not have to buy insurance for any of them.

Who said you have to insure all three? I posted an article from a blog that talks about insuring only one vehicle. I hope this helps.

if you drive all three cars you need to have the liabilty, bodily injury and pip-if its a no fault state.
that means, if your driving them, you need to insure the vehilces. point blank, no insurance company is going to insure just you for liability if in fact you do have three cars that your drive regularly.
if you dont drive them, and they are just sitting there, i am sure its a city or town ordiance to have vehicles registered, if you have any vehicle registered, in turn it needs to be insured, or they will suspend your license for basicly, driving these vehicles without insurance, -unless you park them in your back yard or garage where they cant be seen.

so, if you think your paying too much for them, sell them, junk them, or donate them-get a reciept for your next years taxes if you donate it, write off write off write off....

thats it, those are your options.
