Monitor?

2007-09-18 12:43:03 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Heart monitors do not check a pulse. A pulse is the pressure of the heartbeat in an artery. Heart monitors look at electrical activity of the heart (which is sometimes present when there is no pulse.)

A pulse oximeter monitors the pulse and oxygenation of blood (usually in a finger).

The most common way to check a pulse is by putting your own finger over an artery, such as the radial artery in the wrist, or the carotid artery in the neck. Blood flow in an artery can also be checked using a Doppler device.

a heart monitor is a more in depth cardiac gram, a pulsed checker could be just a digital blood pressure band.
