I wanted to thank the police officers and firemen at my local fire station. But since people always make fun of police for eating doughnuts would they take it badly if I brought them some? I'm not sure they would think I'm mocking them since I'm just a 16 year old girl but do you have any suggestions for other edible gifts I can give? Cupcakes seem to kiddie to me so..Help?

No they really didnt do anything for me in specific. It's just that I realize that only bad cops get publicity as no one really says today, a cop rescued 6 people etc and people take them for granted. Thank you guys for being so nice and encouraging as I wasnt sure if I should do this because I'm kinda shy. Actually I've never really had an experience with cops except for once. I was almost raped when I was 13(which is why hate it when people call me "pretty" b/c I still hear his voice saying that to me) and the only reason I escaped was b/c a cop car drove by. While the cop didnt see (as that bastard had pulled me into an alley) his grip loosened and I just bit his hand and ran. So every time people insult the few bad cops we have, I still remember that overwhelming relief I had when the cop passed by, and I make them stop.

Dunkin Donuts are great for a crew of officers and firemen. Make sure you know how much are in the crew.

Food from people can sometimes be a little worry some especially if the officers/firemen don't know where it is coming from. The best thing you can do is write a nice letter to the chief of police or the fire chief and let them know how helpful the officers were, that always looks good when annual review time comes around.

They can't accept gifts, I tried to give the NYPD officer a gift after they found my stolen car hidden in an alley, The precinct called and said that they cannot accept gift's, I said "It's just a T-shirt, not jewelry", they said "Sorry, thank's, but NO gifts", I sent a letter thanking the officer and the NYPD for the GREAT job they did (they felt bad for me because, I had restored a nice hot rod, they were "Car Buff's" too), they got it back the next day, if that car was there 1 more day it would have been a shell by nightfall). The letter was put into the P.O's File

I think they would be touched no matter what you brought in, but if doughnuts really make you feel self conscious, how about cookies or brownies? You could, also, try making a fruit basket or even getting some friends together and cooking a meal; lasagna and spaghetti are easy ones that you can make for big groups without a lot more effort. As for the cup cakes, they aren't kiddie at all. You're thinking about the people who risk their lives everyday to keep us all safe, that's wonderful. God bless you!

It is quite a false belief that cops like donuts so much, believe me. But also trust this. If you 16-year old girl brought cupcakes that she had taken the time to make herself and said thank you with them it would touch a cop deeply. I don't know if you are thanking them for something specific or just in general but please believe that 99% of cops are caring people who get scolded daily by their superiors and the public on what a bad job they do and your act of kindness would be greatly loved.

I would suggest a few different kinds of cookies and some orange juice and milk. Something else you could always try is to get local businesses to donate things to them also. For example a Starbucks could donate coffee gift cards. Good luck with whatever you decide. Peace

What's the matter with cup cakes? I'm sure the would love the gesture. In this day of working families I bet a lot of them would never see homemade cakes. Go ahead it will make you feel good and I bet it would make them feel good too. Too many people hold back for fear of humiliation these days. Perform random acts of kindness

I think it is a wonder full idea, and you are right, no one remembers the good only the bad. I would write a nice thank you. and I know it would be appreicated. As for you, I wish they could find these bastards, and castrate them. Love and prayers.

They will gladly eat what ever you bring into them and that is a very nice gesture on your part. If you feel uncomfortable with the donuts, how about some homemake cookies.

I think whatever you would like to do would be a nice gesture.
Not many people really think to do this and follow thru.
Do what you wish and enclose a thank you card and write
from your heart. You are wise beyond your years and please
follow through.
