when not even your mom is there for you...
you dont know were to go to for help ...
so u find friends that are just like you.......
with a single mom workin 50 hrs a week.
they are the only ones that are there when you need them....
so you join them.. and that is your new familly...
and just like anyone else ... people will do anything to defend their familly...

Because they need a feeling of security, parents who have kids in gangs need to move to a better neighborhood, just get in the car and go. Do what ever it takes to get out. Drive out of the city, and let your heart lead you where to go but get out, most kids will not survive a gang, its either jail or death, trust me I know.

Family.
The number one reason is to feel a part of a family.
Either thier real family is disfunctional or they "Feel" that it is.
Of course there are other reasons... Money, Protection, Peer Presure...
But the main reason is a feeling of belonging and that the person next to you would give his life to defend you.

I think it is becsuse they are scared. not like whimpy scared but like life scared they don't have nothing else
