There are a number of steps that you, as a pet owner, can take to ease your dog's suffering and to help shorten the length of time that diarrhea will affect your pet.
To begin with, dietary changes can be very helpful and effective. Sometimes reducing your pet's food for a day or two can help to quickly clear up diarrhea. Another technique is to feed your dog a homemade, bland diet until the symptoms have passed. In cases of large intestine-related diarrhea, a high-fiber diet may prove effective. Certain homeopathic remedies and supplements can also provide relief for dogs experiencing diarrhea.
Homeopathic remedies contain natural ingredients, some of which have properties that can effectively reduce the discomfort of diarrhea and the length of time that it lasts for. Natural substances such as barberry and peony, for example, have antibiotic properties that can help to combat diarrhea-causing bacteria. Other ingredients such as ginger, myrrh, and thyme reduce pain, spasms, and inflammation, thereby reducing the troubling symptoms of diarrhea and increasing your pet's comfort.
In most cases, diarrhea will quickly clear up on its own or can be treated quite easily. However, if your dog is showing any signs that its condition may be more serious, or if the diarrhea persists, be sure to alert your veterinarian as soon as possible.

It almost sounds as though they are both re-acting to a poison in the immediate environment. Does the 'diarrhea dog' (sorry) have a flea collar, or flea ointment patch or had a flea dip recently? He could be reacting to the insecticide, and your second dog could also be having a similar reaction. (If you have flea problems, try feeding a couple brewer's yeast tablets to your dogs - the fleas don't like the taste of the blood that brewer's yeast creates. Works for cats too. Never use topical pesticides on your animals!!) Is there something in the kennel that you use for bedding, or cleaning? If nothing obvious comes to mind from the above suggestions, get your animals to a vet immediately. It really does sound like a poisoning of some kind.

If it makes you feel any better, the stuff the vet is probably prescribing is just stuff like pepto bismol. Usually they give the dog that to stop the diarrhea. You should probably just give it to your dog, since the diarrhea can be dangerous since it's been going for 3 days. Give your dog lots of water to keep him hydrated. A lot of the medicines (not antibiotics, though) can be stopped after he gets better. The antibiotics (if any) are necessary if he's got an infection.

I would trust the vet! If you love your dog three days of diarrhea is not good he could have parvo and that can only be treated by a vet. The longer you wait the less chance your beloved pet will have.

Do not feed him for a full 24 hrs. and see if it clears up(treats or any kind of food). Still give him water though. if it does not then i would go to the vet and get the medicine.
My dog gets diarrhea sometimes especially if she has eaten something she shouldn't have or if you feed your dog something strong and rich (some treats are like this). Or if you have changed the dogs diet suddenly.
Good Luck!

http://www.ahvma.org/ This is the site for the Holistic Vet. Assoc. See if there's a holistic vet in your area and take your dog in to see him/her.
Meantime, Fast him for one or two meals then give him plain boiled rice and chicken. Mix in a little plain canned pumpkin (NOT the pie mix) and plain, unflavored, unsweetened yogurt.
But you really do need to see a vet, a holistic one if possible.

Your dog has probably eating something he shouldn't have or something that he isn't used to eating. Are you giving him people food? If so, what kind? Did you recently change his food? And if you did, his stomach probably doesn't agree with the food or you probably changed it to fast. If you don't get what I mean, email me @ chickflick218@yahoo.com and I should better explain things and you can reply back with answers to my questions. Just a thought.

How about you get the vet to do a stool sample and properly diagnose before he starts to treat.. If your vet is not doing this, then you need to find a new vet.
