Hmmm... I'm not 100% sure, but I do believe that most "traditionalist" Wiccans believe in separate gods and goddesses. I know most Alexandrians do, and Alexandrianism is pretty damn close to Gardnerianism.

Are you American? In u.s., "Gardnerian Wicca" refers to an initiatory Wiccan custom that comprises oaths of secrecy. you would be wide-unfold by a coven, and that they are especially selective. they do no longer choose somebody because of the fact they think of that is "especially neat," so i'm variety of worried that those individuals are no longer what they're claiming to be. If she's no longer speaking some coven training and commencing up you, that is not any longer Gardnerian. era. If it does contain training and initiation, ask who their upline is. Verifying initiation lineage is a valid and straightforward action between those communities. in the event that they do no longer understand the question, they are no longer Gardnerian. in the event that they provide you with an answer, i might have the skill that may well be useful you confirm it. merely digital mail me. while you're in England, that is my information that using "Gardnerian" varies rather extra, and that i does no longer need to make any particular claims. Public assistance on the specifics of initatory, oathbound Gardnerian Wicca won't be available, recisely as a results of barriers oaths and initiation.

They are very close lipped about their specific beliefs but I asked a whole forum of British Traditionalists (including several Gardnerians) and the answer was a resounding "no."

I've been interested in this for quite a while because the idea is so widespread among Eclectics, but I don't find it Gardner's works, and I don't find it much in the older books. Valiente quoted Dion Fortune (not a Wiccan) when she said it. Starhawk may have encouraged the notion, although I can't immediately find it in my copy of Spiral Dance. But Starhawk isn't Wiccan either!
