but when I go to certain charity website they never say how to physically help, they just tell you how to give money, I dont really have money to give but I want to help physically, like shipping package to the troops, or being there for a natural disaster, I want to be part of something like that, but they want money or tell you how to start something yourself like a regional division. I dont want to make up and grow my own division, I want to be part of something thats already happening and set up already. How do I do that

I do online research and networking for charities. Many, many charities would be happy to have somone volunteer their time or expertise. You are only limited by your interests and the amount of time you want to spend.

The SPCA has volunteer programs.
The Sierra Club has regular trail clean ups.
Libraries often need volunteers to help sort books.
Schools are always grateful for volunteers to help in the office or classroom as readers, assistants, chaperones on trips, or guest speakers.
Churches often have groups that organize volunteer projects.
Hospitals and nursing homes often have programs for volunteers.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is one the best and most successful charities that you can help out.
Friday, Sept. 21st is the International Day of Peace - you can find volunteer activities to support it here:
http://www.internationaldayofpeace.org/peaceday/north-america.htm

Many cities have volunteer programs like "Philadelphia Cares" which allows you to search on the organization or type of volunteer activity. Search on the word "volunteer" and your city.

Or try searching for something in your area at Idealist.org or on Volunteer Match.

There are many local charities that you can get involved with. Try doing a pet drive; get people to donate bleach, newspaper, dog/cat food, etc. to give to your local pound. Volunteer at a soup kitchen if there's one near you. Get involved with big brothers/big sisters. Volunteer at your local school and tutor students that are behind.
~If you'd rather get involved with a bigger charity look online for the office nearest you. Call their number or e-mail their director. This person will tell you how you can physically get involved. They may have a fundraising committee that you could join. You wouldn't need money for this, but you can raise money to help. If they have a walk-a-thon event they will need people to set up the event, cook food, and clean-up after the event. They might ask you to start your own event for them. You can start an annual 5k run/walk, do a bowl-a-thon, or do an auction. Good luck!!!

I am a trustee of a charity and I can say from personal experience that it is big business and that the vast majority of the money goes on administration. The best thing you can do is find ways to help on a personal level for eg send a parcel of goodies to the troops you care about or go to an old peoples home and give them some of your time and love.

lovely - look in your local newspapers for any notices "Volunteers Wanted." Go to or call your local churches or synagogues and find out they need volunteers. Look in your local phone books under Charities (like Meals on Wheels, Little Brothers of the Poor, Helping Hands) and call and see if they need volunteers. Check out your local not-for-profit organizations, local TV and radio stations (those that run donation drives). There are THOUSANDS of charities out there that would love to have you volunteer for them.

Walk for charities.

For instance, Partnership Walk 2007 is coming up at the Los Angeles Colisseum on October 4. All you do is register at the website, and walk that day. Donations are appreciated, but if you can't, just simply, walk!
