Their actions speak louder than words where their hearts are. The followers are encouraged to believe they can buy their way into salvation. The preachers say nothing against this as long as the cash flows their way.

At my church we say - together - "From the love of Spirit within me, I bless this gift. I send it forth to heal and bless and prosper. It is evidence of my faith and my belief. It does good work in the world, and it returns to me, multiplied abundantly!"
We believe in circulation - but nobody is expected to give - and the amount - though celebrated if it is large (because it does good things) - is not expected to be large - and is truly unimportant. The consistency is much more important - and it is evidence of your faith. The church - in turn - always tithes 10% of whatever is in the basket to some outside cause. ALSO - it is not necessary to circulate at the church. Perhaps people give to homeless shelters or AIDs Walks - or whatever. It's all beautiful.
I only give what I want to give and when I want to give. Circulation (tithing) serves no purpose when it's forced.
If your Pastor is pressuring you to give - or making you feel as if you will only be blessed if you give to that particular church - well - maybe it's time to find a new church.
Namaste!

My pastor doesn't say anything of the sort. How do you expect the church to keep running water, electricity, gas, and rent or the mortgage paid if nobody puts into the plate. That's not even considering the supplies for daycare, children's church, cleaning supplies, and toiletries. Just to name a few. All of the building and maintenance is done by volunteers, all the programs are run by volunteers. So you tell me where we should get the money. Not so handy, huh?

The lord works through his chosen people to move the hearts of many men.
It is only by the power of the Lord that men let go of their selfish desires and give back a small portion of what the Lord has given to them.
We should shout for joy that our God will be pleased with as little as 10 percent.
Praise Christ!

I am finding it hard to believe that EVERYTHING God will do for us will be done according to how much money I give. I am not buying this. It is saying that when you get blessed you will have to look back and say, “When I gave that thousand dollars, God blessed me” Where does God get any glory, if you have to pay him to bless you. I am getting really tired of all these so-called saints who are preaching this false Gospel.
Each Christian "...should give what he has decided in his own heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Whatever happened to the simplicity of the cross and the blood of Jesus who washed away all of my sins? My aunt told me of a time when she was faced with a problem. She fell to her knees and prayed. God answered her prayer. No intermediary ... or cash was necessary.

† Malachi 3 - Robbing God
6 "I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. 7 Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you," says the LORD Almighty.
"But you ask, 'How are we to return?'
8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me.
"But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'
"In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the LORD Almighty. 12 "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land," says the LORD Almighty.
13 "You have said harsh things against me," says the LORD.
"Yet you ask, 'What have we said against you?'
14 "You have said, 'It is futile to serve God. What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the LORD Almighty? 15 But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly the evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape.' "
16 Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name.
17 "They will be mine," says the LORD Almighty, "in the day when I make up my treasured possession. [a] I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. 18 And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.
Numbers 18:26
"Speak to the Levites and say to them: 'When you receive from the Israelites the tithe I give you as your inheritance, you must present a tenth of that tithe as the LORD's offering.
Deuteronomy 26:12
When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.
1 Samuel 8:15
He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants.
Luke 18:12
I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'
Leviticus 27:30
" 'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.
Numbers 18:26
"Speak to the Levites and say to them: 'When you receive from the Israelites the tithe I give you as your inheritance, you must present a tenth of that tithe as the LORD's offering.
Numbers 18:28
In this way you also will present an offering to the LORD from all the tithes you receive from the Israelites. From these tithes you must give the LORD's portion to Aaron the priest.
Deuteronomy 12:6
there bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, what you have vowed to give and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.
Deuteronomy 12:11
Then to the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name—there you are to bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, and all the choice possessions you have vowed to the LORD.
Deuteronomy 12:17
You must not eat in your own towns the tithe of your grain and new wine and oil, or the firstborn of your herds and flocks, or whatever you have vowed to give, or your freewill offerings or special gifts.
Deuteronomy 14:22
[ Tithes ] Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.
2 Chronicles 31:12
Then they faithfully brought in the contributions, tithes and dedicated gifts. Conaniah, a Levite, was in charge of these things, and his brother Shimei was next in rank.
Nehemiah 10:37
"Moreover, we will bring to the storerooms of the house of our God, to the priests, the first of our ground meal, of our grain offerings, of the fruit of all our trees and of our new wine and oil. And we will bring a tithe of our crops to the Levites, for it is the Levites who collect the tithes in all the towns where we work.
-God Bless.

If it's Catholicism, it is no wonder that over-emphasis of money is placed among the congregation. I am not going to get into details because I don't want to discriminate, but Catholicism is the wealthiest religion from what I believe.

Our church does the collection like they did in Jesus' day. That is with a tithe and offering box at the door of the church. People knowing their responsibility in tithing do not have to be told to give. In fact it is a joy to be a part of the ministry by giving to it.
