You can cook it in the husk, but you need to soak the corn in cold water for about 30 minutes so that plenty of moisture is inside the husk, otherwise it will burn easily. It takes about 10 minutes.
I prefer to remove the husk, then grill a couple of minutes on each side, then brush with butter, salt, and pepper. It's great grilled. And leftover grilled corn makes great salsa!

The soaking and leaving on husk is the traditional method. I like to take it to the next level. Completely remove the silk (always do this in any method) and the husk as well. Make a compound butter by adding seasoning salt and coarse black pepper to the butter and spread it on the corn. Wrap it up in aluminum foil and place on the grill on medium heat. Give the corn a 1/4 turn every 2-3 minute to cook evenly and prevent burning and cook a total of 10 to 12 minute depending on how thick big the ears are.

You can either leave the husk on or take it off. The way I do it is peel the husk back one leaf at a time and clean the silk out. Don't worry about getting every little bit of the silk out, it is easy to remove the last little bit after they are cooked. Then I put the husk back. Put it on the grill for about 10-15 minutes turning occasionally. When ready to serve, remove the husk and serve with butter and other toppings of your choice such as lemon pepper, chili powder, or garlic salt. It is WONDERFUL! I have never soaked the corn first, and don't have a problem with it burning. I like for some of the kernals to roast a little bit.

1) Remove the silk - the fibers will burn.

2) Pull off some of the outer husk & soak the ears of corn in water for about 1-2 hours. Leaving some husk will protect the corn kernels. Soaking will keep the husks from burning quickly & create steam when you place them on the grill.

3) Grill about 10 minutes on each side - varies w/ the size of ears of corn & grill temp.

The easiest thing to do is to completely clean the corn - remove the silk & all of the husk. Rinse the corn & wrap it in heavy duty foil. Roast on the grill for about 5-10 minutes each side.

i have to weigh in on this i say they are right soak the corn with husk on for about 30 min. then grill till done & after that you can remove & the husk comes right off & but butter or whatever & if you want to return to grill with seasonings for a few minutes, that is fine but i found that grilling without the husks, seems to dry them out.

We take it out of the husk, slather w/ butter & salt and wrap it in tin foil. I think hubby leaves it on for about 1/2 an hour.
