It depends on your lifestyle and living situation. Do you live in a house or apartment? Do you have a fenced in yard? Is it small or big? Do you have kids? What do they want in a dog? Do you want a dog who will swim with you? Play fetch? Go for runs? Will the dog be home alone while everyone is at work/school? If so, where will the dog be kept? All of these things matter and no one can tell you what kind of a dog to get without knowing more about you.

One thing to remember no matter what breed you get is that you absolutely have to take the dog for a walk for at least 45 minutes every single day. If you don't, the dog will be bored and be more likely to be destructive around your house.

Any breed can be a good dog, with or without kids. Some breeds are more active (like labs, german shepherds, huskies and beagles), but all dogs have energy and need exercise. Some dogs do better alone and some need another dog. For example, Chihuahuas are generally good "only" dogs, but Beagles have a stronger pack instinct and will usually whine and cry if they are alone, especially while their owners are gone.

To find the right dog for your lifestyle check out the breed classification page ath the akc website. They discuss temperment and provide other helpful information. You could also check your local animal shelter. Take your time and make shure everyone is committed because the dog can live 15 years.

The best kind of dog to have is a German Shepherd. It is loyal and a dog that is willing to play with you. It will always stay by your side and never leave. You can truly count on this dog.

go to your local animal shelter and spend some time with the dogs to see who you like. Don't pay for someone to breed animals when there are millions of unwanted dogs being killed every year.

Chihuahuas are good, but there to small, they don't have enough meat on them, in order to get even one good meal you would have to literately scrape all the meat off of them. I would suggest a dachshund, they are small enough so you won't have a fridge full of leftovers, but there is a lot of meat on there stomachs. But i would suggest splitting a few with your friends and seeing what ones you like the best.

A Siberian Husky, they are playful, good, friendly, gentle, athletic, and independent and makes a good companion dog. I have a husky and they are the nicest dogs to own, they love attention and being around people.
