i dont know what configuration i need and some of the information for setting my ps3 up online. so i go to setting then network setting i enable the internet and video media thingy that i can enable. then i go to set it up and it cuts off the interntet. and it asks me what kind of connection i have i choose wired, then adress settings and i choose easy,then it asks me if i want to run proxy server and i said no,and now it is taking me to a list of all the settings when before it asked me wht my ip adress was sub net mask dsn amin and dsn sub or something like that and my ip adress only fits a few letters in.when i try to connect to the internet how it is now it says error occured while communicating with the server this is a dns error

what am i doing wrong or what do i need to do different?

For ethernet hookup

Either reset your router by pressing reset or just unplugg and replug it in or if it routed through the computer run network setup on the computer...

Then run wired set on the ps3 if you have network security you must use the security codes.

Goto settings

Goto network settings

Goto network connection, select enable

Goto Internet connection settings just below internet connection-

Push yes when it says you may be disconnected

Select wired or wireless

For wireless use scan or enter manually

Follow on screen instructions.

Once that is set up return to main menu and go to network near the right

Then once in the internet browser press triangle and goto file and enter the internet address you would like visit.

Wow, it brings some bad memories. I had the same problem, so, finally, I went to a PC store, had bought myself a router with VPN support D-link 604. Than I did all of them operations again (easy setting of the connection, that's more, than enough). No problems. The router costs around 35 $.

now the system is still new and a lot of people have a hard time getting online. so when the start asking you all those questions. you might need to say yes to some of the question.
