there are a bunch of kids in my grade(sophmore) that get drunk almost everyt weekend. They drink some pretty hard alchol too. How come nothing is happening to them. Everybody says its so bad but nothing happends. They are still smart in school.

just because you don't see any visible change doesn't mean that they aren't changing in other ways. it will affect your ability in school but it could also lead to alcohol dependency problems in the near future. you would be wise to stay away from this particular habit and focus on your schoolwork and fill your free time with other activities. in the long run, you will end up better off than they will.

Well there are 4 or more reasons for that:
1) their not really getting drunk
2) they binge drink. This may not seem to effect them on the outside but its wreaking havoc on their insides.
3) There is damage but you don't notice it. Eventually, they will become absent from school more often and you will realize that they don't look as healthy.
4) Alcoholism is a serious disease, abuse of alcohol can lead to it and then it's hard to stop drinking. If they really are doing what you say and they aren't lying then tell someone and get them help.

Just you wait...when they become addicted and can't stop, look out. They will no longer care about school, grades or anything but a drink!

What did you expect? Suddendly they will become stupid??? It doesn't work that way. Getting drunk only once a week is perfectly normal in highschool you should try it out

You can drink and still do well while you're sober. It's not a particularly good habit, and doing it in excess is usually the result of depression, however, done in moderation, it's not that bad.

Nothing has happened yet... Wait until they keep doing it in ten years no one will want to be around them.... High School isnt forever ya know.

Bad stuff dosen't always happen when you drink. Drinking dosen't have anything to do with Being smart in schoool either.
