Hello little SouthernCo...
The most important thing in the burn immediately is to take the absorbed heat out of the tissues by pouring cold water over it for about ten to twenty minutes, and never ICE. Ice causes its own cold burn...(of course this has been told by every body). This is immediate treatment, if the burn is more than an hour old.. forget it.
The next thing to do is if there are no blisters, then apply any antiseptic cream over it and cover it with clean dry gauze, easily available. If the burn is trivial or small it can be left open with the antiseptic cream over it.
If there are blisters never pierce them.. they are the natures best dressings. Just apply antiseptic cream or ointment over them, pack loose cotton over them and then cover with bandage so that they do not get punctured.
The depth of the burn is important especially in the hand. What looks to be a superficial burn may often turn out to be deeper one. So I would advise to consult a doctor after this first aid treatment is carried out. You may need antibiotics or and some analgesics etc.
Take care...

First thing is to cool the burn by running it under cold tap water. You have to do that immediately though, it won't do much good if you burned yourself a few hours ago. Keep the burn clean, and take aspirin with lots of water. Aspirin is an anti-inflammatory and will help keep the burn from getting any worse (most of the damage from a burn like yours is the result of inflammation after the fact) as well as help with the pain.

DO NOT PUT ICE OR COLD WATER ON BURNS.
To get that out of the way from people giving people with burns nice nasty blisters and such more damage. Run it under luke warm water and clean it that way. Also use a alcohol prep pad to clean the burn. Then after this wait probably a day and then put Neosporien on it later. you want to wait a day because you dont want any greasy stuff like the people said above, on a fresh burn.

Run under cold tap water to take the burn out of the skin. Don't put any type of greasy substance on it. That holds the burn in.
Just keep using cold tap water until it calms the nerves down in the skin. Then protect it with a dry bandage and keep clean.

Do not apply butter fats creams or lotions to superficial burns, cool the burned area by flooding it with cold water for at least 10 minutes, prevent infection by covering the burned area with a clean dressing , freshly laundered handkerchief or pillowcase, hope this helps and hope you got your dinner alright

I'd put ice on the burn for twenty minutes. Apply a burn cream, like silvadene, and cover with a bandage for 24 hours.

ice cubes immediately---too late, but when you burn yourself in the kitchen hget in the freezer and grab something cold and solid and keep at it.
Soaking the fingers in vinegar will help a little. Other than that, you just have to wait it out---sorry
