The only good thing about bread machines is that they are convenient. But there's nothing like homemade bread in the oven. It has a better texture, better flavor and can be great therapy kneading the dough when you're in a bad mood and want to take it out on someone, aside from the fact that it makes the house smell wonderful as it's baking.

Bread machine bread can't provide the necessary moisture requited for good home made bread. I bake bread once a week and always spray the oven with a mist of water while baking. This provides the proper moisture for a crisp crust and high rising.

Oh yeah the crust gives it away. You can make your bread recipe in that machine then take it out and bake it in you oven. It will taste 10 times better. the smells in your kitchen will be terrific.

yeah - don't like bread machines. There's something about the process of hand kneading, which is why we pay more for certain types of artisan breads at farmer's markets - the less machine processing, the better.
