I am a film student planning to go into film production, specifically cinematography. I've got tattoos where I can cover them with a t-shirt, but I'd like to get more visible ones on my lower arms. Is it "acceptable" for a DP working on movies to have visible tattoos? (FYI-I'm not planning on getting any until I'm out of school with a job, so it's not a matter of whether or not I get visible tattoos now. Besides, I don't have enough money yet. I just want to know for future reference).

i have a friend who is very very heavily tattooed and she has a job working in movies. she does some kind of computer editing something or other in chicago. usually the movie industry is very liberal in what is allowed. as long as you are not someone that will be in front of the camera it doesn't matter. (she has much of her back tattooed and half sleeves at the top of both arms and forearm tattoos as well as a full chest piece.)

the best advice i have for you is to get quality tattoos. make them count because you only have a limited amount of skin and you want the best that is available to you.
good luck!

There are plenty of successful people in the film industry with tattoo's. Both behind and in front of the camera.

I think that some people may not approve but Megan Fox, who is an actress has like 5 in very visable places so I think you will be ok

Behind the camera, probably ok as long as it's not overpowering (until, of course, you become amazingly famous and can do what you want). In front of the camera (and if it can't be masked with makeup), no.
