I am booking a cruise with Mariner and I don't know what room is better, oceanview or interior.
I was told by a few people to book an interior room in the Promenade.
Have you roomed in the Promenade and if so, is it loud at night?
I don't mind a little noise but not so much that I can't sleep.
Also, what are the best activities onboard?

Thanks

Also, I don't like it PITCH BLACK when I sleep, so if I get an interior room overlooking the Promenade, will it it at least let in some light??

Typically there are four classes of cabins on a ship. Interior (no windows), ocean view (has a window), balcony (has a door to a private balcony - usually the door is part of a floor to ceiling window) and suites. However, the Voyager class and the Freedom class (the Mariner is part of the Voyager class) has a fifth unique category which is a promenade view cabin. This is an interior cabin with a window overlooking the Royal Promenade.

I have been on the Navigator (Voyager class) in a balcony and the Freedom (Freedom class) in a suite, but have not been in a promenade view cabin yet. I am booked on the Mariner in June 2009 and have booked a promenade view cabin. My understanding is that these cabins are not noisy. There is a window, but it is an interior window. The lighting in the Royal Promenade is adjusted based on the time of day (brighter during the day, less bright at night). So your window will allow light into your cabin. You should be aware that the windows are not one way glass, so you might want to close the curtains while you are dressing.

I went on the mariner of the seas about 3 weeks ago and had a interior room overlooking the promenade there was little noise and its a great price

the activites onboard are: Casino, Full court basketball, Rock climbing wall. mini golf, roller blading, ice skating, ping pong, shuffleboard, Dragons lair adult club, and the kids have their own area adventure ocean, with 15-17 yr old club fuel

I am going on Mariner in a two weeks...but I have been on the sister ship the Adventure and I had a balcony...I had a Promenade on the Freedom...Promenade rooms are not loud..the glass in soundproof. They have curtains on the window overlooking the Prom. if you want a little light.
