you can buy a percolator (which just boils the water thru the filter) or you could just use instant coffee and pour your boiling water into the cup with the crystals.

Yes! If you can boil some water you can have a brewed cup of coffee....Melita ...makes a light, very simple, plastic, funnel shaped piece that you put a No. 2 paper filter in...add the fresh ground coffee, then pour boiling water over the ground coffee. The plastic piece is placed over the coffee cup...and the coffee seaps through and into the cup placed beneath. It is just like the drip coffee you would get from a MR COFFEE but better since you having it in the woods it is 100 times better. Every thing fits in a backpack so easy: ...put your ground coffee in a sealable plastic bag...paper filters are small and cheap. The plastic is simple to rinse...nothing to clean....probably weighs an ounce and very durable. My Melita has markings to add water (to make one or two cups of coffee at a time). I use it at home too ...in the moringing, I just microwave the water in less than 2 minutes...to pour thru the filter. The clean up is easier than cleaning a pot and filter basket. I love it.
There is probably a recipe for "camp coffee" (I have never tried) that you dump ground coffee in a can of water....stirring it and at a certain point you crack a raw egg....and stir that into the mixture...the grounds are then bound up with the grounds and you end up with just the coffee...I think you might have some grounds...but it's OK it is Camp Coffee ...doesnt have to be perfect.
A fellow coffee lover/addict! I am ready to go backpacking with you!

all you need is some kind of container some water and some coffee:
In an old syrup container you put a couple of fat tablespoon of coffee into about a half gallon of creek water and set that on a fire and let her come up to a boil . Pull it off the fire and let the grounds settle to the bottom ,around 5 or 4 minutes. Then gently pour you coffee most them grounds will stay put on bottom of can, any stray grounds wont kill ya if you accidental drink some. Now how you gonna get a coffee cup? well since the federal government has figgured out it take 10 million year for styrofoam to break back down into the ground I am pretty sure you gonna find one laying about somewhere.

If your out in the woods somewhere you should always take a coffee pot with you, the type that you use over coals, that has an insert in it so you can always make coffee or you can always take instant coffee with you and heat just your water .

Sure,it's called campfire coffee.Get a pot of water good and hot, dump in the coffee, let it brew, and then set the pot in ice,the sudden cold will cause most of the grounds to settle.Enjoy.
